Chapter 19: Waking From A Nightmare, Into A Nightmare:
Clary's POV:
" Jace?" I whispered my head still dizzy. " Hush, Clary, it's OK, you're safe here." He had his two arms, one around my legs, the other holding my back. " Clary!" I heard Izzy, Maia and Alec scream. " By The Angel Clary, are you OK?" Izzy asked me, her voice coated in concern. " By the Lycanthrope Law I swear I will kill that son of a-" Maia started before Jace interrupted. " Maia! Isabelle!" He shouted, making everyone stare at him, including some brown-haired boy. " Sebastian was a demon. The gas in the box was Demon Taniferu Toxic. The Taniferu in it made her unconscious and Agramon invaded her soul." He sounded bitter, although his voice broke at the end. Maia stroked he hand across my hair, speaking sweet nothing's into my ear. " So, what do we do now?" The brown haired boy asked. " Simon, there's not much we can do. She's freaked out of her mind." Jace replied. Simon? Simon reached over to touch my far an I couldn't stop it: I flinched away. He looked shocked again, like the day I saw him, god knows how long ago. " She still doesn't remember you rat-face." I squeezed my eyes together trying to remember. And I did.
" Clary! Come on!" Simon shrieked. I laughed, my typical five year old bob bouncing as I ran. " Catch me if you can!" The memory melted away as it changed. " Clarrrrrrrrrrrry!" Simon shouted. We were playing hide and seek, my thirteen year old mind believing he would never find me. Simon was fourteen though, so he did. " Found you!" He shrieked. Then the last one:
" Clary..." Simon said, starting to cry. " Oh, Simon! Don't you'll make me cry!" I sobbed, tears already falling. " It will be OK, I swear, I'll come back." Someone came up and wrapped their arms around my waist. " You ready babe?" They asked. I nodded, hugging Simon again, before getting in the car and driving away.
" Simon!" I screamed, darting out of Jace's arms. I threw my arms around his neck, my legs around his waist. He hugged me back, burying his face in my hair. " Clare-bear, I missed you." He whispered. " If you remember Simon, do you remember me? Or Izzy or Alec or Maia?" Jace asked. The hope in his eyes was bright but I could lie to him. " I'm sorry." I said shaking my head. He punched the brick wall, the while ground literally shaking. I started crying as he walked away. Why did I ruin everything?
