Chapter 10

Happy New Year!

It's been a week since Mark and I went to the aquarium. Since then, I've been thinking about him constantly. I can't seem to get this picture of him out of my mind. We spent a few nights texting about the most random things until 5 in the morning but I've had no upcoming events with the band recently. But, today is the day of the signing that Dani set up for the band.
I am currently in a limo with earbuds in, playing Take Me To Church as we pull up to the location. A man opens the limo door and I take a step outside.
I'm guessing that Mark will be here. Knowing that he may be here, a new spark to my step appears as I strut up to the back entrance.
The door opens, showing a really excited Felix.
"Jack~! I've been waiting for you!" He screeches and opens his arms wide for a big hug. I gladly go into his arms, a chuckle leaving my throat. The band members are super close because of how many times we put up with eachother. Felix was there for me through social media rage and helped me get through it. He still comes over once or twice a week and we have a few beers. Felix is probably the most honest person in the band.
"Hey Fe! How's Marzia been doing?" I asked, my voice muffled by the hug. I pull away and flash a wide smile.
"She's been doing great but I can't speak the same for the dogs. Maya has been getting into trouble with the trash lately and Edgar keeps acting like he isn't getting enough attention," he says with a sigh. I punch his arm with a laugh and run a hand through my hair.
"Well then give him attention! I'll come over and give him hugs but I don't want him to fart in my lap again," I joke, actually wanting to come over to his house for the first time in awhile. He says that he likes my place better but I think his is more cozy and mine is more of a mancave.

"Alright I'll think about it. We better make our way to the backroom so you can say hi to the rest of the guys."

I feel like Mark has been lurking in the shadows because I have yet to see him. Fe walked with me down a few halls and we made small talk the whole time. All the while, Mark was stuck in the back of my head.
"Who ya thinking about?" Felix asks abruptly after a beat of silence.
"I'm not thinking about any-" I start to say but he cuts me off.
"I did the same thing before Marzia and I started dating. Who is it? Are they gonna be here? Boy or girl? Is it loooov-" It was my turn to cut him off. "I'm not in love with Mark," I stop and slap my hand onto my mouth. I've pretty much exposed myself. Fuck.
"Hoho you don't say? I can't wait to meet this Mark," he teases, a smirk planted on his swede face.
"Felix I swear to-" I start, getting cut off once again by the meatball. Now it's getting me frustrated.
"OH LOOK WE'RE HERE GREAT LET'S GO IN," Felix says loudly, swinging the door open. I roll my eyes with a smile creeping up onto my face.
He rushes in and pulls me along by my wrist, a tight grip that I might be able to break from if I tried hard enough. Closing the door behind us, I turn around to see everyone in the room. Matpat is sitting on the couch next to our manager, Dani. PJ is leaning against the wall in the corner, looking like a emo fuck boy, and Mark is sitting on a recliner on his phone, looking like a square.

Mark?

Everyone's attention is drawn to us after hearing the door click closed. Dani, Matpat, and Mark give us a greeting smile while PJ scoffs and rolls his eyes. What a dick.
"Hey guys!" Dani greets us with a over exaggerated grin.
"Felix, I wanted to introduce you to Sean's new bodyguard,"
Dani gestures towards Mark.
A greeting look appears on his face as he gets up and offers his hand to shake.
And this is the moment where I remember that Felix will expose me. I stare at Felix, my eyes digging into him as Mark greets him.
"Hello, I'm Mark," he says with a happy look. Felix turned his head very slowly towards me and his eyes catch mine. A smirk sprawls, just as slowly as he turned, across his face. He quirks an eyebrow before whipping his head back to Mark.
"Hello Mark! It's great to finally meet you! Sean was just telling me about you on our way here. He was saying how he -" Fe starts but I slide into the conversation, trying to prevent Felix from ratting me out.
"Is so happy that an asshole isn't his bodyguard this time, " I add for Felix, trying with all my strength to not let Fe cut back in.
"Alright now the signing is gonna start here soon. I'm glad that you guys weren't late this time. We don't want a repeat of October," she pauses to eyeball Matt who was noticeably avoiding eye contact by reading the label of his Diet Coke can.
"We'd better start making our way to the main area to get ready for starting," Dani inputs, suggesting that we get a move on to the event.
We all agree and decide to head to the main area, now that the room limit should have been full.
