"Hey watch it!"

The person I bumped into yelled at me. When we stood up, I saw his face for the first time. He was actually pretty cute, wait what was I thinking I need to get to the office.

"I-I'm sorry, I should have been watching were I was going."

I said, surprised by my own stutter.

"You the new student?"

He asked blocking my path, while checking me out. I nodded, to recover from my stutter.

"I know I'm hot, but could you please stop checking me out."

I said rolling my eyes, irritated that he had been checking me out for the past 5 minutes. He blushed and nodded, moving out of my way trying to hide it. I smirked slightly then left towards the office.

"W-wait up! I'm supposed to show you around the school."

He called, trying to keep up, but I was too far ahead.

"Then I'll wait for you in the office. I still gotta get my schedule."

I replied just loud enough for him to here, ignoring the fact that a cute guy was gonna be showing me around. Not even bothering to stop walking, I felt like smiling but like every other time, I could only smirk.

Once I got to the office, I had to wait a few minutes for my schedule. When I did get it though, the guy I had bumped into earlier walked into the office.

"Jack there you are, perfect timing. I just about to tell the new student here that you would be her guide until she learns to navigate the building."

The office lady said, like he was her son. Doing so obviously irritated him, I looked at him to see that he was ignoring her. It was awkward, I looked down knowing that it showed on my face.

"She already knew that, I bumped into her on my way here. But she went on ahead while I answered my phone."

The guy I now know as Jack responded, then sighed heavily. I could tell that he didn't want to be here. I started walking out the office when he grabbed my hand, dragging me into an empty room. I started shaking slightly, it reminded me of the day I lost my smile.

"Alright tell my your name and show me your schedule. Also don't ask why I'm in a bad mood, it makes me in an even worse mood."

Jack said as I was about to open my mouth, I nodded and showed him my schedule. I relaxed telling myself, that it's okay as long as he doesn't touch me.

"My name is Emiko. I won't ask why, but I just want to know if everything's okay. You seemed rather tense when the office lady treated you that way."

I said, looking into his eyes. He sighed, closing his eyes and rubbing his forehead.

"I'm okay, it's just... never mind. I don't feel like talking about it."

I nodded, noticing that my shaking was slowly stopping, even though Jack stepped a little bit closer. My eyes widened, I was still scared. I took a couple steps back, bumping into a wall and closing my eyes with my head down. I felt tears running down my face, wait tears? Last time I cried was when I lost mom ant the age of 2.

"S-sorry I didn't mean to scare you. You have a beautiful name you know? Emiko, it means smiling child, am I right?"

Jack said softly, lifting my head up gently by my chin only to see me crying. Surprised, he carefully wiped my tears away.

"Sh, please don't cry. You're like me aren't you? Living with a bad memory that you can't forget. A beautiful girl such as you should be smiling, but until you can just remember that I'm here for you, Emiko."

Jack consoled me, I somehow stopped crying and hugged him. Surprising both of us, I calmed down and stopped shaking.

"T-thank you, Jack. This is the first time I've been able to touch another person since..."

I cut myself off as I started shaking again, I hugged him tighter to help me calm down. Jack hugged me back causing me to flinch, so he let go.

"You do know that school is almost over right?"

Jack asked suddenly, after I had stopped shaking, making me let go.

"S-sorry, you should probably show me where my classes are now."

I said, embarrassed that he saw me when I was my weakest. He nodded, grabbing my hand he started towards the door.

"Most of our classes are the same, the only one that's different is the first one. We both have math first, just in different rooms. I'll pick you up from math and walk with you to our other classes. I'll drop you off for math also, at least until you are comfortable walking alone. Oh and if you would like I could introduce you to some of my friends as well."

He explained, as he was showing me where all of my classes were. Which took the rest of the school day, and he walked me back to the front gate where my dad was waiting for me.

"My dad's here."

I said as I saw dad's car waiting, he probably got here ten minutes ago. I was about to leave when I realized that Jack was still holding my hand, I blushed looking at our hands. Jack took the hint and let go, but not before I jumped him with a hug.

"Thank you Jack. For the tour, and for helping me confront my fear."

I whispered softly, just before Jack could hug me back I ran over to dad's car blushing. I still couldn't smile, but I had found a new friend. Someone I that knew I could trust.

"So who was that kid? Did he completely get rid of your fear? How did you meet him? You better not be dating him yet, I've yet to meet my future son-in-law."

Dad pried on the ride home. I rolled my eyes, sighing loudly and shaking my head.

"His name is Jack, and no he didn't completely get rid of it. He showed me where my classes were. He also has a past that haunts him, so I feel comfortable around him. No I'm not dating Jack, I just met him."

I said answering all of his questions, blushing as I answered the last part. I recovered from blushing so fast that one would think it was just a trick of the light or that it was their imagination. As soon as we got home I ran in, put my stuff by the door, dashed to my room, turned on my radio, and laid down on my bed. Wondering what my classmates would be like.
