"Ah Miss bloom thanks for coming to the precinct, you must be here to talk to Lucas" Natasha arrived at the police station 5 days later fully recovers from her leg injury. It was a dreary Wednesday and one Natasha didn't want to waste at a precinct. She still had a week left off work to "recover" so Natasha thought she may as well use it to get thing done. The women she was talking to had thick brown hair that was down apart form the two strands at the front which was pulled back. The lady (who was called Clara) reminded Natasha of a fairy queen but she left that thought to herself. Clara showed her to Tyler's desk and told Natasha that he would be there right away. Natasha sat silently down on the chair behind the desk and looked around.
People everywhere doing everything. No-one seemed to not be doing anything and suddenly she felt very out of place. A man at the desk next to was calling a family member about something but the person at the other end of the line didn't seem to want to oblige. On the other side of the room, a women was having a screaming fit about god knows what while a police women was trying to calm her down. Out of the corner of Natasha's eye she could see Lucas walking towards her so she quickly stood up to shake his hand.
"Natasha, hello" he said while he scooted round to his chair and sat down.
"Hello Lucas it's nice to see you. How are you" Natasha politely asked trying to put off talking about her dead ex- boyfriend.
"I'm great thanks. I just wish we could meet under happier circumstance" Lucas replied chuckling obviously and failing to try and lift the tension. After a few minutes of small talk, Natasha couldn't put it off anymore and they walked down to the morgue to identify the body.
"Now look very closely and take all the time you need. We just need you to identify that the body is your ex-boyfriend Alex Wilson" Natasha looked closely at the body and tried to imagine him 3 years younger which was when they where together. Natasha and Alex was both 18 and they had been so happy. God how that's changed now Natasha thought to herself. She worked up from his feet to his head but something in his left arm caught her attention. It was a tattoo of a girl with blue hair facing away, very tumbler, and that's when Natasha knew. He had got that tattoo of her back when they thought they had a future together, back when he was alive physically and she was alive mentally.
"Yes" Natasha said weakly, her throat dried from not speaking "that's him." A single tear ran down her check as Tyler lead her back to his office. The loud noise of people rushing doing there jobs and the bright lights over powered Natasha and she took a step back to take it all in.
"If it's ok we would like to ask you some questions regarding your relationship with Alex" Tyler said as he sat back down behind the desk with Natasha following his lead.
"Fire away" Natasha said wide eyed realising that it probably wasn't the best thing to say in a room full of highly trained police people who where trained to attack on words like "go" or "fire". However, to her surprise Tyler laughed and suddenly she felt safe. She felt as though all her troubles where gone as if she could be in a line of fire and still be calm knowing he was by her side. Tyler started asking questions that you would expect to hear "do you know why he ran away?" "Can you think of anyone who would want to hurt Alex?" The answers were always no. Natasha has a question of her own nagging at the back of her mind but tried to push it down, after all she wasn't the one conducting the interview.
"May I ask a question" Natasha asked now the question was bigger then a small nagging but taking over her head so that's all she could think of. "Why are you talking to me?"
"I'm sorry I don't know what you mean" Lucas answered sitting back up from his leaning position in the chair.
"Why are you interviewing me I'm his ex- girlfriend from way back in collage. Shouldn't you be taking to a family member that knew him better." Natasha finished her question and felt small once again out of place talking to a police officer in that tone.
"Well the thing is" Lucas started his sentence but stopped to file through some files that where left on top of his desk. "We couldn't actually track down his family" Lucas looked down at the table waiting for her reaction.
"Oh ok. right" Natasha replied feeling slightly awkward.
"If it's ok I still have a few questions" Lucas asked
"Yeh sure go ahead" Natasha said while thinking back to when she said fire away and turned red.
"Ok, do you remember if any" Lucas started the next question but was interrupted by his phone ringing.
Come on Eileen,
Oh I swear what he means
At this moment you mean everything
You in that dress"CARLA!!!" Lucas yelled scaring Natasha out of her skin. "STOP CHANGING MY RINGTONE YOU KNOW I CAN'T CHANGE IT BACK" a small sorry rung through the office as Carla sarcastically apologised. Ignoring the ringtone, Lucas picked up the phone and started talking. After a while he stood up knocking over pictures on his desk as he did so. "I'm sorry we are going to have to finish this chat another time. Thanks for coming"
The man who was next to his desk muttered "that's what she said" causing Natasha to laugh but Lucas had a very different reaction.
"Not the time" he stormed off and talked to another officer who also sprinted away with him. Natasha tried to listen to there conversation and what she gathered something bad had happened.
A dead body had been found behind a dustbin in central London.
