Keegan's POV - A few months later
As I begin to take my finals, Calum's head pops into the door, his body leaning against the white door frame of the fancy hotel we are in. His blonde streak is as bright as when he got it a few weeks ago. His smile lights up the room when I finally make eye contact with his deep chocolate eyes.
"Yes, Cal?" I ask him, trying to sound like I have little interest in my voice. He did not need to know that he's making my stomach fill with butterflies.
"So, kitten, we've got soundcheck at 5. Are you going to be done with your class work by then?" He questions back with a sparkle in his eyes that shows that he hopes I'll come with him.
"I'm taking my last final. I should be done," I respond and continue back to my laptop. "Is that all?" I ask without looking up and I hear his soft sigh in response as his feet begin down the hallway. I take that as a yes. A few moments after answering ten of the one hundred of the English final, my computer freezes and the pointer stops moving. The stupid sliver MacBook is a new 2014 laptop that was suppose to guarantee support and no crashing.
"Ugh, you've got to be kidding me," I stress out loud as Luke is passing my door in the hall. He stops and walks in the room, giving me his famous smirk.
"What's wrong?" Luke requests as he begins to walk over to the side of my bed to see the screen of the MacBook.
"I'm on my last final and my computer froze!" I roll my eyes and put my head in my hand to avoid the blushing on my face from being a complete idiot and using the unreliable hotel Wifi.
"You can borrow my laptop," he offers as the computer goes blank then comes back on. "Unless it starts working. " He laughs off gently sounding a little disappointed, making me wonder if he just wants an excuse to be near me. Ignoring my thoughts, I turn my attention to the white screen loading my exam and smile in relief.
"Thank you, Luke, but I think it's working. If it freezes again, I'll borrow yours," I offer him my smile in gratitude and he nods and mumbles his welcome back before I remember the Vans situation. "Oh, hey do you mind giving me back my black Vans?" I ask him with a light laugh at the thought of him mistaking my shoes for his and trying to wear them a few days ago.
"Yes, sorry about that," he returns a giggle and leaves out the door. His laugh did not quite reach his eyes which worries me, but he knows if he needs anything he can come to me.
After answering the exam questions and updating the site to make sure I had no more assignments left for the semester, relief washes over me. I'll never try to take online classes on tour again due to the boys never letting me concentrate. A smile creeps on my face at the thought of the few months I've had traveling the world with the band and One Direction. I'm not as close with them as I am with the four boys, but nevertheless I've had the time of my life running around backstage to get them ready and jamming out almost every night to later exploring different cities with Calum behind Ashton's back. Not a single one of the boys suspect our adventures and it makes them even more exciting. Tonight would be one of those nights again and one of the last. Cal told me he has something special for us to do tonight in the city of Los Angeles and I'm so anxious for the fun and trouble we'll most likely get into tonight.
In preparation for tonight, I shower and shave my legs, making sure they're nice and smooth in case anything happens because you never know with Calum. He had been trying to get my attention for months and he's yet to make a solid move other than paying for my food and buying me occasional gifts. I know he's aware of Luke's advances and flirts too, maybe that's why he's finally doing "something special" tonight, whatever that means to him. I laugh to myself quietly at the thought as I straight my natural hair and feel the heat radiating from the flat iron. Absorbed in my thoughts, I hadn't noticed Calum standing in the doorway of the white, plain hotel bathroom.
