Right after opening the door, the out-of-breath male was met with the eyes of approximately 26 curious students.
Ten was soaked from head to toe and was absolutely sure he looked like a mess. So much for trying to make a good impression of himself, he thought.

Being eyed so blatantly so early in the morning wasn't exactly Ten's cup of tea and the student quickly looked for a seat after quietly excusing himself.
However, as he was about to go to the back and sit next to Kun, a chinese exchange student whom he surprisingly had built a friendship with as they both shared a good proportion of classes, he was stopped by the shrill voice of his Korean literature teacher.

"Ten. You're right on time.", she declared, staring not-so-subtly at him with her wrinkled eyes.
"As always, if you will." She didn't bother hiding the sarcasm in her voice.

"I'm not late, you guys are just early...", he spoke indistinctly. Although he earned few sniggers from his classmates, the teacher only smiled knowingly, a hint of unconcealed annoyance shining in her eyes.

"Of course, of course. Anyway, we just assigned pairs for the upcoming project and lucky for you, there's still a spot available." Ten looked up from his shoes at those words and looked around the class.

His classmates were all paired up, showing more or less of displeasure to the choice of partner, except for one tall boy in the back. His head was resting on his arms, probably napping, but Ten had no doubt Johnny heard everything that was happening.

Inwardly groaning, Ten reluctantly approached the empty seat next to him after the teacher had motioned him to hurry the fuck up.

"Drop the freaking act, John!" Ten whisper-yelled at his more-than-friend friend as he kept ignoring his soon-to-be partner.
"Why are you being like this, seriously?" The smaller student harshly grabbed the bag on his chair and threw it on the ground, before sitting on the chair with a huff. A part of him knew why Johnny was ignoring him, but he didn't feel like dealing with the guilt. He could still remember the sight of Johnny with puffy red eyes.

"Now that that's settled, let's get started on the project, shall we?" The teacher herself sounded only remotely interested in said project as she began explaining what to do to the teenagers.

"What theme should we pick?", Ten asked the other after the explanations. Not hearing anything from the latter, he rolled his eyes and proceeded to talk to himself, hoping Johnny would respond at some point.

"I think the representation of POC in ancient literature is pretty interesting. What? Love would be better? Well, then, alright... does the symbolism of Love in modern literature sound like a good subject to you, Ten? Of course, thanks for asking Ten! The symbolism of Love it is, then."

Towards the end of the class, Ten realized he had clearly underestimated the stubbornness of the American. He had spent an entire hour embarrassing himself and doing work alone while Johnny just sat silent, seemingly asleep with his head resting on his arms.

Ten might have never felt so misunderstood, but Johnny had never felt so victorious.
Hearing the frustration building up in the smaller boy's voice was akin to a delicious plate of mac and cheese: shouldn't be eaten too often, but boy is it good to eat.

He loved the sight of an aggravated Ten getting out of the classroom with a pout. Letting a cheeky grin illuminate his tired features, Johnny stretched on his chair before getting out as well.

He walked to his next class with a bounce in his feet that day. And that day too, it was because of Ten.
