At the break of dawn I wake to a sound a bird. A bird I have never heard before. I try not to think about it.  I could still barely see what was in the forest.  A small amount of light is seeping through the broken branches of the trees. I know that i need to find a reliable source of food.

I stand up from laying on the hard bark of the tree all night having to stretch my back. I look around seeing only trees and a bit of bushes. I go straight to looking for a large stick to carve into a spear. All the trees were very strong, it was hard to find a stick to use as a spear.

I went deeper into the forest to see if I could find some sticks, instead I found two huge trees broken in half. I knew from that moment on, I wasn't alone. I took two pieces of the wood chunks that are there. I came back from deep inside the forest and it was already mid day. My biggest problem now is food. I finish sharpening one of the sticks on the hard bark of one of the trees, then I head back into the deep part of the forest.

I look for any type of animal to hunt and kill. I am wondering about the bird I heard when I woke up. I look up at the top of the trees, looking for anything moving. I can barely see the top of the trees.  I see a few things moving but it is to dark to tell if it is real or i am just hallucinating.

I throw my spear up hoping that it will hit what is up there. I hear a slight chirp before my spear comes down head first. I think quickly to move out of the way. I pull the spear out of the ground and see something at the end. I have never seen a bird like this before. It has frosty mint feathers with a crimson red beak. Its eyes were glowing white.

My next priority was to make a fire. I go back to the place with the two broken trees and grab as many sticks and twigs as I can carry. I rush back to the place that I left my other stick before the sun begins to go down. I grab a piece of flint from a mound of rocks I find on the way back. I put the sticks together on the ground near the tree I slept at, and attempted to start a fire.

A few minutes later I was successful in starting the fire. I pick up the bird and pluck its feathers. I then grab the bird and put it back on the sharp end of the spear. Then I use the spear to rotate the bird over the fire. I ate the bird so fast due to me starving all day and working so hard. Once I finish eating I put out the fire not to be notice by the strange creatures. I hear strange noises coming from the trees. I try not to think about what might be hiding up there. I hold my spear close hoping that it will protect me from the horrors that live in  the Dark forest.
