Ch. 3: Birth

* MIN HYUK's POV *

- Fine- she said. - let's go-.

We went to the hospital. Along the way (we went by taxi) she had some contractions. I really didn't know what to do during them. I tried to help her breathe; in and out, such as movies. It seemed to be helping her so I kept on doing it until we got to the hospital.

- Should we call your parents?- I asked her.

- I think we should wait until the doctor says something- she said. - maybe its a false alarm-.

I nodded.

- Damn I'm scared- she said, once we got in.

- Don't worry- I said. - I'll be by your side. Everything will be just fine-.

She smiled.

A doctor got to us and we went immediately to a private room. 

- So did your water break?- the doctor asked Bong Soon.

- I think so- she said. - later on I started having contractions. They are like five minutes apart, maybe six. I don't really know. He helped me count-.

- Yes, five minutes apart, doctor- I said.

- Okay then. Let's take you to the delivery room and we'll start tracing those contractions, we'll put you an IV and we'll call our ob/gyn team to come and assist- she said. 

They took Bong Soon to the delivery room. They started doing some exams while I called her parents. They contacted her best friend. They all wanted to be here for her.

I entered the delivery room. Bong Soon was laying down connected to lots of machines. That image was a little bit terrifying.

- I'm fine- she said. - did you call them?-.

- They'll be here soon- I said. My phone rang. - they say they are outside. I should go meet them- I said. 

- Okay- she said. - I don't know if its going to be long before they are born. I'm really nervous now-.

- Don't you worry. I'm here with you- I held her hand. - I'll go to them. I'll be here soon-.

I got out almost running. All her family was outside. They were asking if there were any news yet. I could feel their excitement and also their concern. I tried to talk to them, but I was too nervous. I suddenly heard a baby crying; I almost thought it was ours but it was from the other delivery room. 

- I should go back to her- I said. - I'll be her with news. Or with the babies-.

I smiled.

I ran to the delivery room. Loads of doctors were around her. I made my way to her and held her hand. It all passed so fast; I just remember the doctors talking, the "Push!" and the babies' crying.

- You did it- I finally said.

- We did it- she said, smiling. - we are parents!-.

After this all of her family came to see the two little girls.

- Let's pretend like I didn't ask the Buddha for a son, okay?- she said and we all laughed.

- They are so beautiful- I said. 

Bong Soon smiled.

Seo Ah, the first born, and Soo Ah, the second born, were asleep inside of a little cradle. They both were calm and seemed to be happy.

- Our little ones- she said. - well... finally no more back pains, anxiety or the need for bathroom breaks. Now we can really enjoy parenting-.

Suddenly that word came to my mind. I pictured myself with a black eye - of course, due to their impressive strength, this kind of accidents were basically going to happen. They were almost unavoidable. I felt a little bit of fear for a second, but then I remembered something: Bong Soon's parents brought her up and they survived. I thought it might be convenient to ask her dad for some advise. 

I forgot about the fear. This was more about enjoying the experience rather than fearing it. I smiled. All of that fear didn't magically vanish; but it was being covered by my happiness and excitement. 

* BONG SOON's POV *

At the time I felt great. My fear had gone away, I had delivered the twins finally. It all felt like a dream: two daughters, a wonderful husband. A big and happy family.

- Min Min- I said. - I wanted to thank you for being so good and patient with me. I get mad when I'm in pain... I hope I didn't yell at you- he smiled. - I love you-.

- Me too- he said.

Every one in the room said "Aw". We both smiled and kind of blushed. Public affection is still a pretty new thing to me, even though I'm good with it.

Oh, and by the way, it is not as easy to recover from post-partum as they say it is. I thought I would be able to jump out of bed and go use my strength to help people. But I felt wasted - tired, weak. 

I wanted to recover fast, but its not an easy thing to do.
