Mackenzie's POV
"I'm going to war in the morning. I just wanted to say goodbye to the woman I love." He said then was about to leave when I ran up to him.
I gave him a kiss, full of love. "Don't die on me. You promise me, in three months you'll come back. We may not be together, ever, but, don't die." I cried then we kissed more.
"I won't die. Not ever until I finally have you." He said what can never happen.
"Johnny, you know that will never happen. Just, return, who knows what will happen." I said.
"Don't you dare get married when I'm gone. Or else, I'm not coming back." He chuckled.
"Don't you dare mess with me saying that. You and I know well enough I love you, but we both also know I love my country more." I said then he left.
He knew it from the beginning. He drew me to love my country more.
-
I watched, from the balcony, as soldiers headed to war. I don't know exactly how to put the war, but I know for sure many will die.
"You really do love him, don't you?" Brynn asked as she saw my glistening eyes as they left.
"I-" I stopped myself from talking.
"You won't admit it, would you?" She asked.
"Never." I said then walked back into the castle, a thin scarf wrapped around my arms and body.
I walked to the throne room and saw my mother talking to some people. Tomorrow I'm supposed to be headed on a ship to Casablima for the wedding of Princess Leah and Duke Jacob Of Hemsiph the IV.
I have my gowns stored and thank goodness my family is close to his family and hers. I'm going on the behalf of my father and country.
-
I was about to set off with my ladies when there were rumors of an attack on the sea, waiting to get me.
They rushed me off and brought me to the castle basement where I'm supposed to be there for at least a month, at the least.
"I have been down here for how long? While the actual queen is up on the throne room?" I yelled as I kept my hands on my hips in anger.
Last time I was kept here was when my sister was trapped too so she didn't leave. Marks of her blood and nail marks still roam.
She went crazy here. At only the age 10 she was so in love and did the most crazy things. Almost killing herself once. What you do for love.
I love my country so much, I force my other love away from me. I have two loves, Johnny, and my true love, my duties to my country.
I was laying down, using my large gown as a blanket. I then heard someone enter.
"Mother, it's not fair. I have to be stuck here with all those horrid memories. I'm supposed to be married off." I said, knowing it was her.
"You know I never was royalty. I came from a German and Jewish rich family. So when I die, it won't be as BIG of a deal as when you, the royal heir dies of a tiny school man attack. So you stay here while I, the queen, try to rule a country." She yelled then, spoke once more. "Also, your father's whore delivered the baby. I've talked with the royal psychic. He's sure that the baby is your father's. It's a girl." She said.
"Wait, take her to me. I want to help that baby. Wether or not she is blood. That baby needs to not be cared for by that whore." My mother nodded and a hour later, a maid arrived with a baby, not one, two. "Twins? My mother-" I was interrupted.
"Twins. Both girls. It's up to you Your majesty to name the twins." The maid said as she handed me them then more servants brought in things, there were servants outside just Incase but they aren't aloud in here with me.
"Names. Even if you aren't my sisters, I will help you." I said. "Alisha. Your name is Alisha." I said to the one with just some brown hair. "Vera." I said to the other.
-
The next few months, about 3, until they came back from war. I have been raising the twins underground for all those months.
I wore a green-ish blue dress with purple flowers embellished. With lacy sleeves and a hidden cut in the skirt. I've always been known for my fashion sense even before my sister fled.
I was finally out of that basement. I had white gloves with my Snow tiara.
Every night I prayed for my father's and Hayden's wellbeing, and Johnny's. Also all those lives of soldiers who were forced to fight, to leave their wives and children behind.
It's terrible to be born a woman at this time, but being born male can trap you into death sooner than imaginable.
I want to be a strong leader for my country, but no matter how crazy in love I am with my duties, I will always love Johnny
As I was walking out, more guards than usual surrounded me. For safety reasons. All of them survived previous wars, their strong. I held the two babies in my arms, I barley let them go.
As I walked out, I handed the twins to two of my ladies and saw the gates opening.
The audience shouted of joy and happiness, knowing we fought and won.
Then, seeing someone I kept praying for every night, not there.
I ran back inside and just, no, he can't be! I ran back down and couldn't believe what I saw.
"They told me you would be here. But when I got here. You were already out." I ran up to him and embraced him in a kiss. "I'm sorry I startled you. I just was early to come so I could surprise you." He said then we couldn't stop kissing.
"Exc-I'm sorry. I'll be back." Brynn accidentally interrupted us.
"It's fine. We all should go back up." I said then we all went back up.
There was a banquet tonight, my mother was practically the king so I had to be queen and handle setting the whole thing up.
I chose the plates, winery, glasses, food, everything.
While everything was getting set up, my ladies took care of everything for me while me and Johnny had some time together.
"Johnny. I think there is a chance we can marry." I said as I put my shoes back on.
"Really? How?" He asked.
"My mother. She came from a wealthy family. Yet never royalty. I think it was the best fine winery. You are just as rich, why not? You won't have a stable line, but if our child lets you stay when I pass, it might work. I'll ask my father." I cheered.
"I guess there might be hope." He said then kissed me and we went back up.
