"open mine next" Storm said quickly before picking up her gift and placing it in front of me

We just got back from the restaurant not too long ago. The dinner party was over around two but my dad insisted we stay back and clean instead of hiring people to do it like Storm had planned. He said it would be good quality family bonding or whatever.

I didn't mind though. I like that my dad still likes to do things the normal way instead of using money to get out of every situation. That's why we have no maids, no nannies when we were younger, and no cook—even though we need one.

Now we're back home opening some of the gifts I got. Mostly from family since there were too many I got from the party to open all right now.

It was a huge box wrapped with black wrapping paper and had a big red bow on top. I started to open it neatly but she got impatient and just tore the whole thing off.

"thanks" I said awkwardly as I looked at the messed up wrapping now

I pulled off the cover of the box and saw a lot of bubble wrap and packing peanuts. I reached into the box and pulled out the first thing I touched. It turned out to be a Versace backpack.

"Thanks" I fake smiled "...another bag to add to my collection"

"you're welcome. it'll go good with the new jacket Grams got you. there's also a belt and fanny pack in there" She said

"great, I needed another one of those" I said trying to be as enthusiastic as I could be

I love my family, I really do, but they suck at giving gifts. To them it's always a competition of who can spend the most on me, and I appreciate it but the gifts always seem so impersonal. Yes I'm happy to have my stuff, but I would rather it be something I wanted.

"I guess I can open up one more gift, but then I'm going to bed" I said placing the bag back into the box

"I think you should open up your friends next, you know, best for last" Kamron suggested
