Lord, create my heart anew.
More and more to be like you.
You know the burden of my sins,
make me pure and whole within.
Help me flee from wicked ways.
When I slip or turn astray:
Oh, save me from temptation's snare!
Let your pitying eyes me spare!
May my tongue with fire be purged,
when e'er I offend with words.
A vile and loathsome worm am I!
Yet, oh Lord, you hear my cry.
When my thoughts to sin would turn,
let your word within me burn.
Oh, guard my mind from sin's allure!
Let it be within me pure.
Lord, create my heart anew.
More and more to be like you.
Oh, let temptation have no sway!
Make me Lord like you I pray.
