Chapter 3
The Accident
“I’m gonna miss you like hell Edward.” Annabelle sighed as a tear escaped her eye. Edward kissed her tears and replied, “I am gonna miss you more. But right now you have to concentrate on enjoying a heavenly vacation with your family and live the moment.”
“I’ll try but it’s gonna be tough considering the fact that you aren’t gonna be there. I do love you, you know? And most of my days, I’m used to seeing your face every single time I leave the house. Because when I do, you’re always there perhaps waiting for me in your car or other times just standing there in you winter coat ready to set off for a long walk.” Annabelle replied.
They were perched on Anna’s bed in her room. Anna was getting together some last minute things for the trip.
“And you seem to have forgotten how those long walks turned into steaming make-out sessions?” Edward asked Anna, grabbing her by the waist.
“Edward! You're impossible.” Annabelle cried as she buried her red face in the crook of his manly neck. “What I’m trying to say is that I’m so happy I’m finally spending some time again with my family but the fact that you are gonna be here while I’m miles away on a ski resort doesn’t sit well with me.”
“Neither does it sit well with me. But you are gonna be with your family Belle. Get a bit laid back even if it’s just for just a week.” He then silenced her reply with a searing kiss that sent Anna over the moon.
At that moment, the door of Anna’s bedroom opened and Rose poked her head inside taking in the sight in front of her. Anna quickly pulled away from Edward all while she blushed a shade of deep red which matched her lips. She could only imagine how they must have looked like with Anna sprawled on top of Edward as he held her by the waist, their lips caught together.
“As much as I hate to break this mushy-gushy moment, Annabelle has some family priorities which need some quick attention.” Rose chuckled. Then turning to Anna, she added, “Annie, your sister is having a breakdown. She can’t find her sparkly pink coat which according to her is a ‘necessity of a ski trip’ so it’s only fair she find it.”
“Umm...Can you do me a favour Ed?” Anna said turning back to Edward.
“Anything baby, just ask.”
“Well can you keep Sarah company until I find her coat and finish packing?”
“I’m outta here. Bubye dear Belle. See you after your vacation.” So saying, Edward quickly pecked Anna on her lips and tried to get out of the room.
“Oh no you don’t! I need some time with my best friend while you play kitty-parties with the toddler and I mean it.” Rose replied sternly.
“But I don’t want to play with Sarah. She drives me crazy. I mean she’s cute and all but you haven’t seen the devil behind her angelic face. She all but forces me to-” Rose cuts him off with a smack on his head.
“Excuse us dear best friend’s boyfriend. I need a chance to bid Anna a heartfelt goodbye just like you. I am closer to her after all. If it weren’t for me playing cupid, you both would have never even met. So show some gratitude to the matchmaker here.” Rose snapped trying to keep on her fake angry expression but failing miserably.
Eventually they all broke down laughing and Edward walked to Anna and planted his lips on her forehead. “You owe me big time baby. Big time.”
“Come on Ed. How hard is it to keep a five year old girl company?” Anna asked as both the girls giggled.
