I frowned, putting an elbow on my desk and running my fingers through my hair and tugging in frustration.

This was so pointless! When the hell would I need to use the Pythagorean Theorem in real life? I tapped my pencil on my desk rapidly, the lamp giving me a small headache. I heard a groggy voice behind me, "C'mon man, how long have you been working on that? It's not due until next week."

I glared over my shoulder at my boyfriend, who lay topless on my bed, and was drifting off to sleep. Or so I thought. I frowned at him, "It was due yesterday, Ferris. I'm already getting ten points off because it's late. I have to finish it tonight."

"Do you have too?"

"Yes."

"No, I mean do you really have too? Like, what if you don't? So what? You have an A in that class. Worst case scenario: It turns into a B."

I frowned at him.

He scoffed, "You're almost as wound up as Cameron. Come over here and lay down with me. You can get back to it later."

I shook my head, "Sorry, Ferris, but if I lay down for even a second, I'll fall asleep. This needs to get done."

He suddenly looked up at me, his hair messy and pointing in all directions, "You realize I can just go into the school's system and change your grade, right? That's how I'm still getting by."

I put my pencil down, staring at him, and leaning back in my chair to release the tension from my shoulders, "Well, no, Ferris, I didnt know that." My sarcastic tone faded and I frowned, whisper yelling because my other housemates were asleep, "Why are you just now telling me this?"

He shrugged, his bare shoulder looking more tan from the golden hue provided by the lamp, "Didn't think it was important. Or I forgot. Not sure." He smiled sweetly, "Now will you come lay down."

I puffed my cheeks out and looked back to the paper, thinking about what to do. Finally, I stood up, "Fine, Ferris. Just this once, but from here on out, my schoolwork will be first, okay? I need to get into a good college."

Ferris grinned at his success, holding out a hand and waving me over, "Yeah, yeah, now get over here. I'm cold."

"Cold-hearted, maybe."

He gasped as if in offense, inhaling an exaggerated deep breath before choking a little and breaking out into a coughing fit, laughing at himself and pounding a fist on his chest.

I chuckled at him, messing his hair up more before sliding onto the mattress with him, and threw a blanket over us. He cleared his throat a final time, and wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling my back to his chest and pushing his lips to the back of my neck tiredly. He sighed happily, and I could picture the goofy smile that was surely on his lips. I tried reaching out my hand to turn off the light, and failed by just a few inches. Ferris grinned, "I got it." I watched as he grabbed a cloth-line clip from out of nowhere, and sat up, putting it on the switch so I could flick it off from my bed.

I smiled, pulling him back and laying in the same position, "You're so smart Ferris. Do you even have to go in and change your grades?"

"Hell yeah I do! I'm smart, but I'm not school smart. I just sort of figure out ways to be lazier."

"That's funny coming from someone who ditched school, went to a museum and a baseball game, took me fine-dining and swimming, and then car stealing."

"Hey, I said I was lazy. I didn't say I didn't like to have fun."
