I walked on the sidewalk, my hands in my pockets as I looked calmly at the surroundings that had grown up with me in this town. I turned a corner, walking do the sidewalk by a diner. I bit my bottom lip, humming a little. I heard some chatter up ahead, but gave it no mind, keeping my feet forward. I walked by a small opening that led to the diner's back entrance, and saw two boys.

I didn't look at either of them. I was walking by a trashcan when a loud bang was heard. Jumping at the shocking noise, I nearly fell. That bullet nearly hit me! I looked stupidly at the trashcan it hit, then fearfully to the boy who'd fired it. They both yelped at the guns noise, and one of them laughed loudly. They immediately bolted, one of them gripping my arm and yanking me, forcing me to run along with him so my face didn't end up in the dirt.

He yanked me around the corner I'd just recently turned, and I snatched my arm from his hand, "What the fuck was that?! You just about took my head off back there!"

The boy with dark brown hair began yelling at his friend; a handsome kid in a plain t-shirt and jeans. He looked to both of us, "Woah, woah, calm your tits you two." He looked to his friend, "I didn't know it was loaded." He looked to me, "You just gotta promise not to tell Tupperberry that we shot a hole in her garbage can. Got it?"

I smiled, "I ain't a snitch. What the hell were you two doing with a gun anyways?"

The two boys exchanged a glance before giving different answers. I frowned, "Well, whatever you're doing, I want in on it. This town is boring as hell, so this is the first interesting thing that's happened since that kid died in the Jeep accident."

The other boy's features faltered a little, and the taller boy smiled, "Well, if you want to come with us, you can. We just have to work out the details so you don't end up getting tangled up in bad shit with the rest of us."

We began walking and he told me about where they were headed. I didn't believe him when he said they were going to see a dead body, but a trip out of town might have been fun anyhow. We walked back to the entrance to the diner, and two older boys walked by, bumping shoulders with the kid who's name I found out to be Gordie. I frowned, shoving the blond guy's shoulder, "Hey, watch where you're going, shit-heels!"

He turned around, frowning and throwing his cigarette at me, "The fuck did you just say to me?"

I scowled at him, moving my head to the side to dodge the cigar, "I said," I raised my voice, "Watch where you are going, shit-heels!"

His brow furrowed and he kept his eyes on mine. Chris stood by me, "Yeah, Ace. We got things to do, so back off."

Ace raised his nose at us, pointing lazily between us, "Yeah, well lucky for you two pricks, I got things of my own to do."

He spit at the ground in front of us before walking away with his friend, who mocked what we said earlier. Chris scoffed and we began walking again, "That's my brother, you know. Not Ace, I mean the brown-headed one."

"Yeah? Well your brother's an asshole."

He shook his head, "Naw, he's just friends with one."

Gordie walked with us, "It was real cool how you told him off like that. Probably the first time I've ever seen someone get rid of him so quickly."

Chris frowned, "Oh please, I have. Remember that one time where I said that thing and he left?"

Gordie rolled his eyes, "Of course."

I chuckled, "Well, it's real great to meet you two. I should probably head home and pack up a bag."

Chris looked at me, "Wait, you're seriously coming with us?"

I smiled, "Yes, I'm seriously coming with you. Your friend almost shot me, and a little excitement is all I want, so that's all you'll give."

Chris smiled, holding out a hand, "Alright. Grab your stuff and meet us at the tracks right outside of town."
