Zee and I can only meet when most of you are already asleep. When the sun is long gone and the moon is watching over the streets of our small town. It's Friday night and I'm on my way to the bench on the beach boardwalk, where we usually meet. On my way I see a black cat who is crossing the street, chasing after a tiny mouse. I feel sorry for the mouse. Why? Because during the day I am the mouse who is being chased through the streets. During the day I am exposed to everyone's judgment. During the day I am nothing more than a tiny grey mouse.

But at night, when the darkness surrounds me and the moon protects me, I feel alive. I mostly feel like this, because I spend the nights with my boyfriend. Not like you might think right now... We just sit on this bench I was talking about before and enjoy each others company. Sometimes we don't even talk. We don't need to talk. We understand each other without talking.

I can already see him sitting on the bench waiting for me. He is wearing his favorite black leather jacket and blowing out cigaret smoke. After a while, he notices me and is staring in my direction until I'm standing in front of him. He runs his fingers through my brown locks and leans in for a kiss. His lips taste like smoke, but I don't care. I've waited for this kiss for almost a week now. He wasn't able to come to our dates the last week because he had to work late. Zee has to take care of his mom and little sisters since his dad left. I feel bad for not helping him, but he would never accept any money. My dad would probably freak out if he knew that I'm in a relationship with Zee, but I am anyways.

I push those thoughts away. I don't want to spend my night thinking about all of those "what ifs". Right now he is with me and that's what counts. I lay down on the bench so that my head is lying in his lap and close my eyes. Zee is playing with my brown curls. No one could possibly see us because the only light comes from the moon, which is watching over us. I love the feeling of him being near me. I feel like no one can hurt me because Zee is protecting me. My hand finds his and we intertwine our fingers. I can feel the heat filling my whole body.

"I missed you, babe" he whispers. I smile.

That was the only thing he said the whole night. Although we were just sitting there in silence I couldn't picture anything better than that. Both of us enjoyed being able to be who we truly are. A poor and a rich guy who secretly fell in love.
