I woke up in a hurry, almost forgetting I was in a hospital. My father was sitting beside the bed, his head resting in his palms, eyes closed. I shifted quietly, as to not wake him. Looking at the bedside clock, I noticed it was 9 in the morning. But it felt like I haven't moved in a long time.
"Dad?" I spoke, which woke him up instantly.
"Nevada? Thank the gods you are awake!" He cried, jumping out of his seat.
"How long was I out?"
"2 days. It must've been all the damage you have taken. But I think that you should be able to get out today, with our fast healing and all."
"I see. Then I can continue on my projects. My clients won't like that I was put out of commission."
"They will have to like it. It is not like you left the planet. You were hit by a car, not like you can fix that."
I nodded, "You are right. Although, I am going to stop taking requests and take a break. I am going to focus on what I have to do, and when I am done, I want to explore this world a bit."
Dad frowned, "Are you sure that is the best?"
I shrugged, "Whether it is or not, I cannot afford to be burnt out. Besides, I will be fine. All my works are worth money due to what I imbued them with."
There was a knock on the door, and I focused my attention on it. The doctor from when I was last awake was there, smiling. I nodded at him and he came towards us. My father took a step back, and with him, he took the seat. For a second, I thought he was going to leave it for the doctor. But he did not.
"How are you feeling, Miss Nevada?" The doctor asked, clicking his pen to take notes.
"I feel a lot better. I guess the 2-day nap I took helped a lot." I responded.
"Well, I am going to check everything, if you don't mind."
I shook my head and let him stick the stethoscope to my chest, to check my breathing. Then he did all the other normal doctor procedures. He wrote down what occurred, and then he spoke, "You sound fine. You don't seem to be in any pain, so I won't give you any pain medicine. Later today, I will schedule an X-ray appointment to see how your bones are. I would suggest checking for bruising later on."
I nodded, "Alright. Thank you, sir."
The doctor nodded and left the room. He closed the door, not fully, behind him. My father drug the chair back to its original position. He glanced around the room and he sighed. Was he expecting someone, something?
"Who are you looking for?" I asked, glancing around.
"I don't know. A bit skeptical I guess. I suppose you will be out soon, hopefully. And I would avoid your mother if I were you. She's in a bit of a mood right now. She is still blaming you for a car accident." My father responded, relaxing his stiff muscles.
"She realizes that I saved him from getting hurt more, right?"
"I don't think that she wants to accept that you saved him. Considering everything back on Aquarius. And I apologize for the way I acted then. If there is anything you need, come to me. I want to try and remedy our relationship."
My father lowered his head, as much as he could. On Aquarius, this was typically done to the royalty strictly, and it was the form of the most utmost respect. So if he was doing what I thought he was, then his words were genuine. As for mother, I don't think I could ever remedy it. She doesn't deserve to have me in her life.
"I will keep that in mind. Thank you. Now that our people are in danger, I see that you have seen the errors of your way. Although, I am certain that mom hasn't. She hasn't accepted that the humans here are more accepting of sexualities. Although, they were much like us in the past." I responded, looking my father in his eyes.
"Yes, they were. But for now, I will let you be. I'll come and pick you up when they discharge you." My father spoke, standing up.
I nodded and watched him leave the room. Pulling off the covers, I made my way to the bathroom adjourning the room. I pulled up my hospital gown and checked for bruises. Thankfully for my fast healing, there were little bruising, only ones being in creases and in areas that keep getting pressure applied. I looked a mess when I fully checked myself out in the mirror, with my hair being a bird's nest and my body a little paler due to lack of being in the sun.
There was a knock on the door, "Miss Nevada? It is time for your X-Rays. Are you in the bathroom?"
"Yes, I will be out in just a moment," I replied, pulling down my gown.
I opened the bathroom door and there was a lady with a wheelchair for me. Slowly, I walked over with the IV thing and they wheeled me down to the X-Ray room. They put a heavy material, in which I made slightly lighter with my Imperio, and they set me in front of a scanner. They rotated me several times and took several pictures in different areas. Then they sent me back to my room.
"Everything looks healed, which is surprising. It is almost as if you have Wolverine's super healing." The doctor came in, showing different x-ray pictures.
"Wasn't all of this like really broken?" I acted as if this was a shocker.
"Most of it, yes. But some people are known to have strong immune systems and some benefits of that can be faster healing. But for the bones to heal almost seamlessly is astonishing. Later today, I will let you be discharged. You may want to schedule an appointment with your doctor for checkups, but you seem to be doing better than most."
"Thank you, Doctor." I replied, to which he nodded.
I was thankful for my alien genes with my regeneration. On Aquarius, we would have healed like a normal human, but the star here is helping with a lot of issues. Most radioactive waste doesn't seem to harm me, so I wonder how radioactive Aquarius is. It would only be a few hours, then I could go and make the fuel and go and save my sister.
