Chapter 8

Erika's POV
I could tell as soon as we went into the police station Jake was aggravated the police officer was about to touch my shoulder trying to reassure me that it's gonna be okay but Jake wouldn't let him.

PO: we'll maybe have a trial by next week on Tuesday only if you are correct about where he is.

E: I know I'm correct, Dennis Costell watch out he's a sneaky man so don't put anything on the news or in the news paper. I might've only been eight years old but I know how he works I just didn't know what was right and what was wrong at the moment.

PO: I assure you we will do everything we can.

E: thank you Officer

PO: it's just what I do.

I grabbed Jakes hand and we left. When we got outside I hugged him tight.

E: thank you so much Jake

J: no problem.

E: I feel so great. I need to throw a party my moms gonna be so proud.

J: how about we wait on the party just until after the trial.

E: I'm just so-

Jakes POV
Erika grabbed my face and kissed my cheek. I turned around and rubbed my face trying to make the red go away.

J: *laughs* better?

E: I've been better since we walked out of that place.

J: let's go somewhere.

E: where?

J: uuuuum how about we go to the movies

E: are you asking me on a date?

J: um- I- you

E: because if you are my answer is yes

J: okay then yeah I am.

Erika grabbed my hand and we started walking to my car.

E: so what movie do you wanna see?

J: see the problem is I've never been on a date

E: but-

J: she wasn't really into that stuff.

E: oh well I've never been on a date either

J: this should be interesting

We got into my car and went to the theater.

J: do you know what movie you want to see?

E: well not romance their boring.

She is literally perfect.

E: um comedy?

J: yeah let's see what they have.

We went to the movie and I ended up buying two tickets to see the movie Night School. That's what they guys do right? Buy the stuff on the first date?

Each time a funny part would come on when Erika would laugh I just looked at her. After today it felt good to hear her laugh. To hear her be happy.

*after movie @ Erikas*

E: thank you for tonight and with my dad situation

J: of course I'll see you tomorrow.

E: hey um Sunny has a doctors appointment tomorrow and my car is still in the shop. Could you give me a ride?

J: yeah I'll see you tomorrow morning. What time?

E: what time do you usually wake up?

J: um I'm usually late to school
