This story is based off of a Doctor Who episode, I do not own the plot or any of its charcters aside form Mary.

Mary lies asleep on the bed that Caecilius' son Quentin let her borrow. She is still wearing the Doctor's trench coat and her hands are on her chest. The Doctor and Donna sit by her bed and the Doctor is using his sonic screwdriver to scan her.

"Oh, Mary, I'm sorry. I'm so so sorry. What happened to you?"

"Doctor, what's wrong?" Donna asks

"Nearly everything! She's severely malnourished and dehydrated, she has traces of multiple fractured ribs that have healed by now, a pattern of bruises that are as new as four days ago and as old as six months ago, they get to old to be detected after that. She's on the verge of hypothermia and that's just the tip of the iceberg. She has blood loss like I've never seen on a living human. She only has one fifth the amount of blood she should have and half of it was accumilated in the last few hours. The rest of her blood isn't more than a month old which suggests that she's lost blood before."

"My god, who could do that to someone?"

"I'm not sure but the blood loss seems to originate from here" He says as he points the sonic to her neck. When he scans it his eyes widen.

"How is that possible?" He says

"What?"

"It can't be, that's not possible! That's..."

"Doctor, what is it?" He looks over to Donna and says

"My screwdriver."

"Your what?"

"My screwdriver, my sonic screwdriver! There's traces of the sonic energy from my screwdriver on her neck. It must have closed up the wounds and left these scars!"

"Well, how can you tell? It can't be yours, it must be a different one. You can't be the only one in the universe with a sonic!"

"I'm not but each sonic device gives off different energy depending on its owner. The sonic used was definately mine!"

"But how is that possible, you two've only just met, right?"

"I've just met her, but that doesn't nessisarily mean she's just met me."

"But what does that mean?"

"Lets find out!" The Doctor places two fingers on each of Mary's temples

"What are you doing?" Donna asks

"I'm entering her mind. If I see her memories then maybe I can figure out the best way to help her, along with everything else she isn't telling us." He closes his eyes and goes into the memory she's currently reliving.

He's standing in a 16th century italian house, very poor with all homemade furniture. At the dinner table is a family, one small, plump, tan man with a large moustache and a bald head, one small, plump, tan woman with graying hair tied in a bun, four small children, the youngest and oldest looking are girls and the other two are boys, all under the age of ten with big brown eyes. The seventh person at the table is Mary still thin but looking healthy and with no scars on her neck. They are all laughing and eating chicken and corn. He smiles because its the first time he sees her without a forced smile. Then, he feels himself being pulled out of the memory and into a room of nothingness.
