Author's note at the end of the story! :) It explains everything.

Agent Barton was standing on the hospital bed when the doctor, Simmons, and Coulson walked in. He actually leaned against the wall to seem like what he was doing was normal.

Quickly glancing up at the white ceiling panels above the bed, Jemma Simmons noted that the agent had planned on escaping through the vent, which he had been known to do often

Quickly glancing up at the white ceiling panels above the bed, Jemma Simmons noted that the agent had planned on escaping through the vent, which he had been known to do often. Her eyes fell on Clint, who was now staring at the open door. Coulson also took notice and immediately closed the door; he stood in front of it.

"You should be in bed," Simmons insisted, taking a few steps closer. She froze and looked down as she stepped in a small puddle of clear IV solution. Simmons sighed before turning to get a towel from the supply shelf against the wall.

"I'm hungry..." Clint slowly sat down on the bed, now watching Simmons blot up the leaked solution on the floor with the towel. "And I want out of here. I need to find Nat." He messed with the buttons on the neck of the hospital gown he wore with a pair of grey sweatpants with the SHIELD logo in the upper thigh.

"You're not fit for field work right now, Barton," Coulson stated, remaining by the door.  "Let's compromise. A nurse will bring you some lunch after Dr. Parker and Dr. Simmons examine you. Don't argue or put up a fight and I'll let you talk to Fury about the rescue mission."

"So I'm assuming he'll only get lunch?" Simmons rolled her eyes as she discarded the old IV needle and tape and unpackaging a new needle.

"Hey, I'll get to talk to Fury about rescuing Nat. She's the best thing that has ever happened to me." Simmons was surprised Clint didn't protest against getting his IV back in. He winced as she slid the needle under his skin, but remained quiet.

Simmons frowned as she felt the warmth of his skin, knowing right away that he had a post-op fever. She then noticed the darkness around his eyes and the sweat on his forehead. "You need to stay on your IV and rest."

Clint rolled his eyes. "You're just a doctor. What do you know?" Stupid choice of words.

Simmons was rough as she secured the needle and strapped a custom arm restraint over the needle to hopefully keep the agent from tearing the IV out again. Fitz had actually customized it to be "bird boy proof" because Clint was known to get out of anything.

Her actions made the archer wince and suck in a sharp breath of air through his teeth. "Okay, okay, I'll listen! I'm sorry!" It made Simmons smirk.

The scientist turned to Dr. Parker. "Okay, he's ready."
