Somehow. SOMEHOW. I was able to get out of the house and to the party. Me, being the dumb idiot that I am didn't think of this plan until the day of the party. I simply told my mom that me and Claire wanted to sleepover. See? It's pretty pathetic that I haven't thought of it before. But, It worked and that's all that matters. When I got there, I was overwhelmed by the number of people there. Claire wasn't lying when nearly all of the school would be there. Even people I didn't normally talk to in school showed up. Claire being the great friend that she is stayed by with me for the night, considering I didn't know half these people. Everything was going by fine until things started getting more.....adult?
A boy had apparently snuck in some intoxicating drinks. Claire was lucky her parents were gone on vacation. I'll admit, I had a few sips. At the most, I had only half a can. The taste of beer never really stuck with me. Everyone else on the other hand had more than one. Far more than one. Things started to get loud and I felt like everyone was suffocating me. The air getting thicker and thicker each minute, while the scent of alcohol drafted in and out my nose. Almost 20 minutes after the drinks had been passed around, I saw flashing red and blue lights outside. My heart felt like it was going to explode. Like it would've burst out of my chest at any moment. In the moment of my self panic, I only remember multiple police officers entering, one of the seniors engaging on him, and then gun shots. The shots rang through my ears and stabbed through them like a knife. As if a giant bell had gone off inside me.
After the shot was fired, Claire grabbed my hand and ran outside. We ran out about a block away before she instructed me to go home. When I asked her how she'll deal with what's going on back at her place, she told me not to worry. If there's one thing I know about Claire, it is to never argue with her. Plus, I knew going home would be for the best. I snuck back in through the back door. Thankfully everyone was asleep. I still can't help but worry about Claire. I hope everything is alright...
