Once the family found out about Niklaus not being Mikaels child they also found out Esther and Mikael put a curse on Niklaus to surprise his werewolf side. they also learned that to make them into these monsters they drank the blood of Tatia who is a 'doppelgänger' and she was dead. It broke Elijah more then Nik which was strange he seemed like he loved her.
When Astraea went to yell at Esther Nik told her what he did. She felt bad for him and calmed him down and promised to keep her mouth shut. Esther did this to them she ruined their lives.
Before fleeing all together Nik lijah Bekah dimples and star burned the white oak the only thing that allowed their death. Finn has taken off leaving them to run.
• Flashback •
Rebekah Niklaus and Astraea were in a cave carving names. Astraea did hers first knowing Rebekah can't do things fast like she could and it would piss Niklaus off. When she was finished writing her name she handed it to Rebekah with a smirk. Rebekah carved her name nice and slow so she wouldn't mess up and Niklaus wasn't happy.
"Rebekah, let me have at it!" Niklaus complained then groaned.
"Quiet, Niklaus! I am to have more concentration if I am not to slice off a finger." Rebekah pursed her lips in annoyance concentrating on writing.
"If you don't hurry a finger will be sliced off, it just won't be from lack of concentration. You know father will not like you handling a blade." Niklaus says trying to get her to hand it over.
She thought for a moment before saying, "If I want to wield a blade, I shall wield a blade! Father need not know!"
Astraea knew Mikael would never punish her for holding a blade but she would be told to not touch one in public.
"He will find out. He always does."
"That is only because you tell him and gets me in trouble."
Niklaus was sad because he feels bad but he thought if he told him maybe it would relieve the punishment. "I cannot help it...he frightens me."
"He frightens us all." Astraea said rembering her first time seeing Mikael being violent.
"That is why we stick together as one." Rebekah added. "Always and forever," Rebekah said similing. She turned to Niklaus smirking, "Right, traitor?"
"Right." He smiled back at them.
Rebekah realized she needed to help with something. "Here, You finish it. I am to help mother with the meal."
"I need- Ok that's a lie. I want to go to Kol so I will be heading out as well."
"Yes, go tend to dinner, and leave the blades to the men. Oh, and have fun with lover boy, love."
Rebekah took the blade and not so gently slammed the blade into Niklaus' palm slicing it open.
"Bekah." He grunted out.
"It's just a little blood. Be a man about it." Rebekah said linking arms with Astraea and heading out.

Kol and Astraea stayed with Nik, Elijah and Rebekah for awhile until they had to leave with Aleah to protect her. When Kol and Astraea head word of the vampires got out they knew they had to leave with their daughter. Nik didn't like it but he had to let them leave and raise their child elsewhere, that much he understood.
Home is where the heart is and their home is worthless without family so together they swore.
