Walking home in the cold, rain and dark wasn't the best way to end the day but i continued walking down the street holding my umbrella closer to me hoping for more cover till i got to the local shop where i pulled the togal and shaked the access rain drops off and steped into the warmths accompanied by the ring of the bell

"Good evening"

I was greeted by the store clerk who gave a friendly smile which i returned before heading to the frigdes sliding the door and picking out an energy drink and some yogurt as well as taking a couple mars bars and a packet of salt and vinegar crisps from the shleves before placing them all onto the counter for them to be payed for

"That'll be £10 please"

I handed over the note and took the bag after being given the receipt saying a good night to him and leaving the shop lifting my umbrella over myself once again and my bag in my other hand before making my way down the street once again

But as i was walking i heard a soft whimper coming from a bin infront of a building making me stop confused but slowly went towards the noise

What i saw made me lose my breath

There sat a small boy full of bruises, cuts and hardly any meat on his body all he wore was a top some jeans and a beanie his body shaking from the cold weather small whimpers and cries leaving his mouth

"What happened"

I asked softly making the boys head snap up big brown eyes staring up at me tears streaming down his cheeks

The site broke my heart
