Hey guys! First of all - I'm sooo sorry for such a LONG delay! I know it's been a long time since I last updated this, but as much as I wanted to do so, it was very difficult to pen this out. Anyway, the next part is likely to be either the last or one of the last parts. So I'm just about to wrap up this story. I hope those who have stuck around are not disappointed by how I will be ending it off :)

Recap from Ch. 38 "Bourbon":
A couple of hours later, we found ourselves sitting by the fireplace - Randhir, Riaan, and I. The others had left after dinner, leaving the "newly-engaged" couple some privacy (as they called it). Riaan was in my lap as I held Randhir's hand and leaned on his shoulder. The peace that enveloped me was unparalleled to any other feeling I had ever felt before. "Thanks for completing us Randhir!" I whispered against his shirt. He kissed my hair; "Wouldn't have it any other way my love."
--
A couple years back, I'd have killed Randhir for even suggesting such an ordeal. But now? I couldn't be happier.
I sipped my coffee as Randhir read Riaan a bedtime story - patting his hair ever so slightly every so often.
Just a week after we got engaged, he had taken us out to dinner and popped yet another question.
--
"Sanyu, Riaan - will you both do me one favour and help make my empty house a real home?"
I had laughed -- which, in retrospect, I realize was because I assumed he was just asking me to set a date for our marriage. But I was taken aback when he pulled out a boxed gift and asked me to open it.
"Randhir, what is this?"
"A keyy," Riaan chimed in, laughing at his mother's silly question I'm assuming.
"Randhir, a key for...?"
"Our home Sanyu," he whispered, his gentle voice boring in it the softest caress. My eyes teared as he continued, "I know we're about to get married in a couple of months anyway, but you..."
I interrupted him suddenly, "Yes!"
--
I stared at her in disbelief; "What? For real?" I spoke out, a wide smile making its place on my face - though a bit of skepticism still evident in my tone. "You're agreeing to it without me having to talk you into it?"
This went much more smoothly than I intended, not that I was complaining of course.
She leaned in and kissed me, "We've spent so many of our years away from one another when we could have been together. We can't do anything to bring that time back, but we can stop wasting even one moment hereon."
"I love you so much," I whispered into her ears, burying my neck into her hair.
--
A week had passed, and we had comfortably settled into our routine. We'd all have breakfast together in the mornings - Sanyu, Riaan, and I - and I'd leave for the office while Sanyu would get Riaan ready for his pre-school nursery.
She'd take the bus to office after - adamantly forbidding me from buying her a car. I didn't argue much considering I was content with her just agreeing to move in with me. And of course I knew she still wanted to be independent to prove a point not to anyone else, but rather just to prove it to herself.
And so she continued to take the bus.
We'd come back in my car, pick Riaan up from the nursery and head home together. It was a seemingly mundane routine, to think of it, but I had so effortlessly fallen in love with every aspect of it.
Waking up next to her made my heart giddy - finally all our dreams coming true. She'd cook us breakfast, and I'd cook us dinner - mixing it up every so often. I was growing to love this domestic Randhir.
--
Riaan was now asleep, and we lay upright in bed, my face resting on his chest listening to his steady heartbeat. His hands were wrapped around me, and his head resting on mine. "Randhir?" I whispered, to which he kissed my hair and hummed a soft hmm, "I love you!"
He smiled, "I love you too Farzi."
I abruptly got out of his arms and walked out of bed.
"Where are you going?" he yelled out, "I'll be right back! I have a surprise for you!"
Glancing at the bag I now held in my hands, I took a deep breath. I quickly slipped into the lace lingerie I had bought. Okay I lied, Vidushi had asked me to accompany her on one of her shopping sprees. She'd convinced me - or rather, forceable gotten me - to buy this lingerie. "It'll help get things rolling ," she'd shamelessly added with a wink. Though I couldn't lie, I missed the physical intimacy I once shared with Randhir. I wanted to give him time, initially, but now, I was beginning to think that maybe that was what he was thinking as well.
"Are you feeling okay?"
I opened the door and stepped out, becoming unbelievably conscious at the skin I was showing. "Whoa," he stared at me, his voice deeper than normal. He got out of bed as well and came near me, causing me to involuntarily try and clutch the lingerie downwards. But he took his hands and let them wrap themselves tightly around me as he captured my lips in his. He bit my lip harshly, and a slight moan escaped me.
A slight thud sounded itself as my back hit the wall, making us both freeze in the moment in our awkward stance - him looking at the door, and my legs wrapped around his waist.
"Do you think he...?" Randhir asked me, trailing off unwilling to finish the sentence. A quick minute passed, "No if he were up, he'd have come into our room by now!"
I continued kissing him, but his eyes were pried to the door. "Randhirrr," I laughed out, "I promise you he is still sleeping!" pecking his lips in between every word.
I sighed as I pushed myself off of him and onto the floor. I wrapped a shawl around me and quickly tiptoed outside to check on Riaan. Randhir followed with stealth.
"See?" I whispered.
I turned to face a smirking Randhir; "It's back on Sanyu," he commented as we headed back to our bedroom.
--
I woke up yawning, my hand automatically searching for Sanyu to pull her close. But she wasn't there. I put on my sweats and headed out to the kitchen. There she was, in utmost simplicity, whisking the batter for what smelled like pancakes. I walked towards and snuggled her neck, my arms wrapping automatically around her frame.
--
His groggy, "Morning Farzi," stirred more butterflies in my stomach. "Morning Randhir! Ready for some blueberry pancakes?"
"Booberry? My favourite!" a little voice chimed in from behind. Randhir quickly scooped him up and put him up on the counter, his hands moving back to hug me soon after.
Randhir set the table for us as I made the pancakes - as fluffy as I knew both of them liked. The morning went by as perfectly as I'd have imagined years ago back when we first discovered our relationship. This was nothing short of a miracle - I had long given up on having the chance to reconnect with Randhir let alone actually rekindle our love again. Nothing, absolutely nothing could ruin this for me now. I had everything I needed.
