Irene's P.O.V
So, I was called by Mrs. Lee, the caretaker this morning at her office. She told me to move to Seoul when I reached 18. She said that I need to find my own life in the city after 18 years live in this house.
She gave me some amount of money. It's quite big amount for me. She asked me to use it wisely but I refused to take it. I don't want to move out. It's scary to live alone in the big city.
But she convinced me that everything will be fine. I need to be free and chase my dream, my goals.
" You have been here for a long time, Irene. You need to find your own life in the city. For how long you want to live in this house? You see your brothers and sisters? They are doing just fine now in the city. So do you. Trust me. You will be doing great in Seoul. " - Mrs. Lee
" But- No. The money. It's too many. I shouldn't be a burden to you, Mr. Lee. You have been taking care of me since I was born. How could I take your money just to spend it for myself ? " - Me
" It's okay, Irene. You've done a lot in this house. You've been taking care of your sisters for me. Did the chores everyday. Even took a part time job after school. You never be a burden to me, Bae Irene. " - Mrs. Lee
" You really want me to go? Then, who will look after the kids? Who will do the chores? " -Me
Tears escaped my eyes. It is so hard for me to leave this house. I grew in this house. Here is like my real home.
" Don't worry about that. Some of them will be adopted soon. About the chores, I will take care of it. It's my work in the first place. " - Mrs. Lee
She pulled me into her embrace as she patted my back. She like a mother to me. She's so lovely, kind, mother-like and very thoughtful. She's the reason too why I don't want to leave this place.
I starts to cry. I can't bear to think how would it be to live alone in the busy city. It must be hard for an introvert like me.
" Trust me. You will be fine, Sweety. Besides, you are allowed to come here for a visit as often as you want. You can call me everyday. If you need a help, feel free to give a call. I'll always be there for you. " - Mrs. Lee
" Emm " , I nodded. Swiping the tears on my cheeks.
" I trust you, Mrs. Lee. Thank you for everything. " - Me
-
It took me a week to settle all my school transferring documents. Thank God Mrs. Lee has settle everything for me. She already registered me and paid the first year fee for my first year in the new high school.
All I need to do when I arrive at Seoul later on is to find a place to stay. The cheapest one if its possible. Then, I need to buy my school uniform and some stuff. Luckily, I still not use my saving so I have enough money for me to survive there in Seoul while I search for part time job.
" Noona, do you really have to go? " - Jisung
Jisung, the young brother but not the youngest, came into my room. His face shows how sad he is to see me settling my stuff in my luggage.
" Eo? Jisung-ah.. why are you not sleeping yet? " - Me
" Noona, you didn't answer my question yet " - Jisung
I smiled. Tears about to escape my eyelid but I quickly blinked my eyes.
" Of course. I have to. But don't worry, Jisung-ah. I will come here as often as possible. I will never forget about you guys. " - Me
" Noona... you know how much all of us need you " - Jisung.
Listen to his voice just make me become sadder than I already do. Jisung is a passive, shy and untalkative boy in the house. He rather read his book than playing with others. But looking how sad he is right now just make me want to cry out loud.
" I know. But what to do. Mrs. Lee want me to go. It's time for me to go. I've been here for a really long time. Don't be sad. You just make me become sadder, Jisung-ah. " - Me
I jokingly punched his arm.
" Fine. But promise me, you will come over as often as possible. Promise? " -Jisung
He pulled out his pinky finger. I smiled and did the same.
" I promise. You too. Promise me that you will take care of others while I'm not here. Okay? Can you promise me that? " - Me
Jisung nodded. Tears escaped his eyes. He is so cute !
" Yah~ don't cry... Chenle is still here with you. You are not alone. " - Me
Jisung wiped his tears and smiled afterwards. I went to hug him and patted his back to give some comfort. He always be so nice to me. He always help me doing houseworks.
" You look ugly when you cry you know that " - Me
Jisung softly punched my arms. We both laughed. I will miss this. I secretly wiped my tears that about to fall.
-
Next morning.
Mrs. Lee sent me to the train station. She can't accompany me to Seoul since she need to take care of the house. Her husband are busy with his work too. So, this is like my first page of my so called "new life". I need to do everything all by myself.
Come to think of it. I feel slightly worried. Never in my lifetime I reached Seoul. I've been in Daegu since Day 1 and never got the chance to travel around the South Korea. So sad.
" Irene. Remember to take care of yourself and if someone do something bad for you, show them that you have a black belt in Taekwondo. Okay? " - Mrs. Lee
I chuckled to her advise. True. What to worry about when I already received my black belt in Taekwondo.
" I will, Mrs. Lee. I think I should go now. The train will come at 10. As much as I wish to miss the train, I bet you will buy another ticket huh? " - Me
Mrs. Lee laugh at my statement. She pulled me into a hug. It was so warm. Like a mother hugging her daughter. I wish.
" I will miss you, Irene. Call me if you need anything. Okay? " - Mrs. Lee
" Me too. I will always remember your effort in taking care of me and others. I will cherish all the moment we had together in the house. I'll get going first. Till we meet again, Mrs. Lee. " - Me
I bid her a goodbye before I pull my big purple luggage with me to the main entrance.
" You can do this, Bae Irene. "
