“Okay, zip me up?” I asked her. “You got it.” Arianna said as she zipped up the back of my dress and gave me my Cody Simpson jacket so I don’t freeze my ass off when we go outside.
“Wow, Stacey you look amazing.” Stephanie said as she came up to change out of her practice clothes.
“Thanks Stephanie.” I said smiling. “That dress would so look better on me though.” She said. And I was walking over to her hands in the air ready to choke her when Arianna pulls me back. “Don’t do that.” She said.
“You’re right you’re right violence is never the answer, what am I going to do with my hair?” I asked looking at myself in the mirror.
“Two braids like always Stacey nothing else works for you.” She said undoing then redoing my braids. “Okay time check?” I asked her. “Six-thirty are you supposed to be early?” Arianna asked.
“The teacher in charge wanted us there at six-forty five.” I said. “Well come on then.” She said as we ran to her car and I called bye to everyone before I left the house.
“Stacey, it’s about time you are the last act of the night.” The teacher in charge told me as I walked in with Arianna. “What like all the way at the end after everyone performed already?” I asked.
“That would be why it’s the LAST act of the night, where’s Julissa?” he called out. “Right here sir.” Julissa said.
“Do you have all your intros?” he asked. “Yes sir.” Julissa said. “Good.” The teacher said walking away. “Julissa, what are you doing here?” I asked. “Oh I’m the MC.” She said with a smile.
“Can you try and relax her I have to show everyone where we’re sitting.” Arianna said walking back to the front to greet all the friends I invited. “Are you seriously nervous Stacey?” Julissa asked. “Um yes I’ve never performed in front of a crowd before.” I said.
“How many friends are going to be here?” Julissa asked. “Let’s see there’s Arianna, her sisters, her little brother, Arianna’s Mom, my parents, my sister, Cassia, Nancy, Moe, Jake said he might come, Briana, and then a few I met throughout the years here at Towson.” I said.
“I think you’re missing someone.” A guy voice said from behind me and I turned around to see my brother. “William!” I said as I attack hugged him. “Hey Stacey, how is it I have to hear from Mom that you’re performing at the talent show?” William asked.
“How come you don’t visit that often?” I asked him. “Well I’m in college now Stacey my life doesn’t revolve around my Xbox anymore.” He said with a chuckle.
“I’ve been meaning to call you about the show though.” I said. “Come on, you and I both know that’s not true.” William said as he chuckled again.
“Well it’s not like you answer your phone anyway.” I said as I punched his arm. “Hurtful.” William said. “How’d you get back here anyway?” I said. “The teacher in charge of this loved me when I went here; how I could I not have gotten in.” William said.
“Yeah when you went here a whole year ago, Mom and Dad know you’re here?” I asked. “Nah I just stopped by to wish you good luck.” William said. “Can you do that?” I asked.
“My college is at the end of the road of course I can do that, good luck Stacey you’re going to rock.” He said as he hugged me said bye to the teacher in charge and headed back out.
“Okay people our openers are up now the show has officially started.” The teacher in charge said as everyone clapped. I thought because of how nervous I was the show would go by in slow motion but it didn’t next thing I knew we were at the in between acts intermission then not too far after that I was up next.
“Wow alright lots of great stuff from singing to dancing to just being seniors this was quite the show, but next up we’ve saved the best for last, the greatest of the great it’s Stacey Powell singing Taylor Swift’s hit 2009 single ‘Superstar’ for her superstar Cody Simpson.” Julissa said as she stepped off stage leaving the microphone in the microphone stand.
“Cassia she said to video from when she walked onstage to when she walked offstage so you know video.” Nancy said as Cassia put up her camera.
“I know I know make fun of the girl who likes Cody Simpson but I’m a huge fan and I’m proud of that so I chose this song because it represents not just me but all his fans, he does so much for us and I thought it was about time we gave back so this is Superstar by Taylor Swift covered by me for Cody Simpson.” I said as the music started playing from the speakers.
