We lied on the slightly frozen grass. A plastic cloth was between us and the cold grass. To prevent us from getting frost bite, by the cold minty night.

My hand was gently laced with Aubrey's little cold one, under the big cotton blanket. It was so cold and small, that I was in fear that it would break if my grip got too strong: Like a small layer of ice on the lake in the winter, that looked solid but would crack if you stepped on it.

The blanket couldn't keep the cold out from her body or maybe it couldn't take the cold out from her?

All I was focused on at the time was how cold there where. Not how bony and thin they had become. It wasn't until later, like now, that it occurred to me that all they really were was skin and bones.

. . .

We had planned this night for a long time, always having to push it further out into the future. Simply because the night sky was clouded or the street lighted up to much, for the stars to be on the perfect show, from our position on Earth's glow.

But it was one of the last day to do it, since we soon would have the much more longer and brighter days at arrival. We had lied their complete still, watching each star paint the sky in its over glowing shine. We had soon let our minds speak up about these far away gas constellations and where they might could lead to or where they could bring us.

We talked about the almighty Cassiopeia and the warrior Orion and many others, all the starts that we could remember. We were letting our mind drift away to a place of pure imagination, a world full of dreams and hope for a future.

"You know that one right there. That star picture right there. With the seven stars forming a wagon. Did you know that if you take the two front stars and plus is up four times you reach the north star" I had spoken to Aubrey and I had watched her eyes glimmer with admiration and joy.

"No I didn't at all. Let's go there in the fall. I wanna follow that star in the night. Ending at the northern bright" She had speaker up afterwards and I remember I squeezed her hand tight I'm assuring.

"Yeah we should sometime, someday, see the northern lights and feel the cold bite onto our faces. Drink lots of tea or hot chocolate, what ever you choose" I said, my voice full of excitement.

"I would love that, boo, I really do. Going away, to study the milky way" She snuggled closer to me and I secured my arm around her.

"Then I'll take you there, I promise, I go with you and study the stars and what else you'll like to see up there were the world is always covered in white snow." I spoke, not aware that I promised something I would never be able to keep.
