“Good morning, Bobby!” Chloe flashed a huge smile the moment I stepped inside our classroom. We still had 10 minutes before class begins.
“Good morning,” I greeted back and took my seat.
“Didn’t have much sleep last night?” She asked and I nodded.
“Must be jetlag. You’ll recover soon,” she gave me sympathetic smile. I forced a smile even though my eyes felt like shutting down.
I wish it were only jetlag that was the reason I didn’t get much rest. That would have been more manageable. But living in the same flat with the opposite sex wasn’t exactly something I was prepared for. Yeah, Ellie made it clear I wasn’t his type but who was I kidding? It wasn’t normal for a boy and a girl who barely knew each other to live together. We did have our own bedrooms, but still!
It was a relief though that we didn’t bumped into each other this morning—expect the part where I started banging his door. He was probably out running when I left. I caught a glimpse of him going out of the door in his sweats and trainers when I went out of the bathroom. That was another problem. I had to make sure I had everything I needed whenever I went to the bathroom and made sure I wouldn’t leave something behind. You know, like fallen underwear.
I crossed my arms on the table and buried my face in it. I will get through this. Maybe Ellie and I can even be great friends! I gleamed for a moment but I knew it was impossible. I sighed. He was unbelievably cocky and arrogant.
“You’re not sleeping. You’re just breathing like really heavily. Is there a problem?” Chloe asked and I felt her hand on my back.
I lifted my head up and looked at her, resting one cheek on my hand.
Should I tell her? Yeah. Maybe I should. Maybe she’d tell me what to do about it. “My flat mate is a guy,” I rolled my eyes and took another deep breath.
“What?” She sounded amused.
I just shrugged.
“What?” Then she started laughing. Why is she laughing? “How did that happen?” She asked.
“Some kind of document misunderstanding shit,” I blabbered.
“Is he a student as well?” She asked, leaning closer.
“Yeah. Same school,” I added. I didn’t exactly ask Ellie where he was studying—because duh, we have yet to have a normal conversation—but Mr. Simons did mention my flat mate was studying in the same Academy.
“Really? What’s his name?” She asked gleefully.
“Isn’t this the part where you, as my friend, starts to freak out because I’m living with a guy I barely knew?” I laughed.
“Don’t be silly, of course I’m worried!” She smiled sarcastically and raised both her eyebrows, waiting for my answer.
I was just about to tell her Ellie’s name when Max pulled a chair and sat in front me. It was just my second day but I already knew Max was the Mr. Nice Guy in our class. I didn’t know if he was also the Mr. Nice Guy in the entire campus but he seemed like it.
“Hey Bobby,” he smiled. Just when will I be able to get used to guys in English accent?
“Hi Max,” I smiled back.
He rested his elbows on my desk and just stared at me, his green eyes a bit distracting.
“Is there anything you need?” I asked him, raising my eyebrows. I glanced at Chloe who was sitting beside me. Why is he here? I asked her with my eyes. She just shrugged and sort of laughed.
