blackout nights

Most of the gang was uncomfortable with the whole party crowd oddly enough. I mean, the basement was comfortable and safe — minus Red's presence. But after Jackie's "formal dinner party", no one was really to eager about house parties.

However, Lucy still kinda loved them. Alcohol or not, there was typically good music. And if there was alcohol or weed, people always seemed to invite her to where the good stuff was.

Knowing this, Hyde would always go with Lucy to house parties. But only the ones that would have alcohol.

"I'm not going for any of the dumb, junior high shit, ya hear LSD? So don't invite me to another one of those again."

"Steven, you're just pissed that you're only good at poker when you're high or drunk," Lucy shook her head as the boy drove them back home in Kelso's van which he borrowed, he didn't steal it.

So, as long as Lucy could insure there was alcohol, or that she would get him some if there wasn't, he would be her party buddy. Which made going out easier since her parents wouldn't argue as much. Quickly after the pair officially made up from the whole '77 Halloween fiasco, Lucy solidified their friendship by inviting him out. "You just missed having someone to go with!" Hyde huffed as he pulled himself up from his cot and grabbed his jacket before heading out the door.

Within an hour of being there, the friends were trashed. Everyone was in fact. And Lucy was about to go off to find the football player that said he had a stash in his car. In the kitchen, Hyde was around a group who he knew strictly from skipping class and going under the bleachers. He ignored what they were saying and watched the blonde wobble slightly down the hall from the kitchen, Hyde hollered, "Lucy, where ya going dollface?" his words slurred together.

"Steven!" the girl beamed as she hurriedly pushed through the crowd to the kitchen counter he stood at. Wrapping her arms around his shoulders, holding herself up. "So I found a guy who has some stuff," she whispered excitedly, "so I'm gonna go meet him outside."

"I'm not sure Lucy, it's better if you stay inside," Hyde said, furrowing his eyebrows.

"But — Steven, I haven't been able to find anyone else with stuff the entire party!" she pouted, leaning up closer to him, bouncing on her tiptoes childishly.

One of the guys next to them mumbled something incoherent and Lucy furrowed her eyebrows before a blunt was held out to her. And she smiled happily before it was taken from her and Hyde had a grin before taking it himself before giving it back to her upon her pouting. The group of burnouts stayed huddled in the kitchen corner as the blunt got passed around.

As the party got more crowded, and Lucy and Hyde got more intoxicated and high, Lucy made sure to still have one of her hands on Hyde's shoulder for balance as people jostled around them. And he had his arm around her waist, and wasn't quite sure when it had slipped into her back pocket. And neither of them were sure who looked at who first, or who kissed who first, but soon Lucy was against the kitchen counter as Hyde's lips were against her's. One of her hands rested on his shoulder still, the other moving to the side of his face. And Hyde's hand moved from her jean pocket and his fingers curled into her belt loops. Without meaning to, while kissing him, Lucy pushed his hands away, being reminded too much of a similar time at a different house party with a different boy. But instead of arguing like the last boy, Hyde merely cupped her face with his hands, continuing to kiss her, more passionately now. Lucy began to feel dizzy off the drinking and smoking and this overwhelming feeling he was causing her.

"I missed this," she mumbled against his lips and he hummed in response, and she swore she could feel him start to smirk proudly as he deepened the kiss. In one swift motion, he hoisted her up onto the kitchen counter and she wrapped her legs around his waist.

The two were snapped out of their stupor when a girl's voice was heard nearby, "Ew! Aren't they like related?" And they quickly pulled apart to look for the voice.

And maybe it was Destroy — or Giveback — but next to the girl and a few feet away, one of the boys said, "Nice man! Living with Forwoman and getting it on?"

The boys barely got to laugh at their joke, and Lucy could barely process the interaction before Hyde punched each boy square in the jaw. "Come on Lucy, time to go."

The blonde was giggling at Destroy and Giveback's and the date's face. And she reached into her bag and pulled out the camera.

Sternly, Hyde started, "Don't you dare take a photo Lu—" but he was interrupted by a snap.

So in retaliation, Hyde snatched the camera from her, "Steven! Give it back! I look like a mess!"

"Shut up Lucy, you look hot," Hyde said dismissively.

She was taken aback by the boy's compliment. Never once had he called her hot. "Wait what?" she was cut off by the snap of the camera.

And she didn't realize until after she got the filmed developed that he was smiling. And she decided it was one of her favorite photos. And looking back, she racked her brain for what would make him smile — or make her have that deer in headlights kinda look. And neither of them remembered that night after their killer hangover the next day. But for the life of her, she couldn't remember when or why she took it.
