Turning around slowly, she came face to face with the man she loved.
"Hi." She whispered, gazing up at his brown eyes.
He gave her a small grin, "Hi." He said, not taking his eyes off her.
Tilting her head, she looked up at him questionably. "What is all this? Where are we? Why are here?" She let out a laugh, "I'm sorry, I'm just happy and confused. I don't know what to say."
Gazing down at her adoringly, Matteo lifted his hand and ran his fingers through her silky tresses. "I know you have a lot of questions and I'll answers all of them soon. But all I can say is that I brought you here because I needed to show you how much I want you Ivy, how much I love you. Me setting all this up is just a glimpse of how much I want to love and cherish you mí amóre." He said.
"Oh.." She was speechless, she didn't know what else to say. "This place is beautiful. How did you find it?"
Matteo let out a chuckle, "I'll tell you all about it in a minute, but right now I want you to sit down while I go get the food."
Reluctantly stepping away from her, he went around the her and pulled a chair out for her. Taking a seat, she watched him go inside the cabin. Ivy couldn't understand why but she felt at peace with this place and with Matteo here with her, she wouldn't dream about being anywhere else.
Matteo came out with a tray that was filled with two plates of Italian food, and two champagne filled glasses. "You made lasagna, my favorite." She said, letting out a laugh. She had always joked how the only reason she was with him was because of his lasagna recipe.
He gave her a wink, "I know."
They made small talk throughout their meal, but overall they were too focused on eating. By the end they were both full. "God, I don't know what I missed more you or your cooking." Ivy said, leaning back and rubbing her full stomach. It took a lot of restraint not to pop the button of her jeans open.
Matteo threw his head back and let out a laugh, "I'm pretty sure you missed using my body a lot more." He said, giving her a sly grin.
Ivy couldn't help the blush she felt stain her cheeks. Rolling her eyes, she grumbled a "whatever" under her breath but couldn't stop the grin pulling at the sides of her mouth.
Suddenly Matteo's expression turned serious, "I missed you Ivy."
"I missed you too." She whispered.
Leaning across the table, he grabbed her hand and held it in his. "Do you want to know why I brought you here?" He asked.
Ivy nodded her head.
"This place used to belong to my parents. When I was younger I used to vacation here all the time. My parents gave this place to me when I was 25, I think they were hoping that someday I would get married and my kids would come here every summer like I did. I didn't have the guts to tell them that I didn't want to get married and have kids. Well... not until I met you." He said, making Ivys eyes widen in shock. Taking a deep breath he continued. "I don't know if you remember this or not but when you were about 8 or 9, you and your family came to visit me here."
Ivy racked her brain trying to remember, but the memories were vague. "This place does look familiar, but I don't remember much."
Matteo's lips twitched into a smile, "You were so angry at your parents at first, you didn't want to spend an entire weekend alone with your parents and their old friend and where there were no kids your age to play with. But it didn't take you long to fall in love with place, you loved the animals here, riding the horses and swimming in the lake. I remember you telling me that it was your dream to live here someday."
Ivy let out a dreamy sigh, "It still is. I always wanted to live somewhere away from the city, where I could have my own farm and raise animals."
Matteo gave her a smile before letting go of her hand. Ivy watched as he reached inside his jacket and pulled out a folded piece of paper before handing it to her. "Read it."
Her eyebrows knitted in confusion. Opening up the paper, she started reading it. Suddenly her confusion turned into shock. Glancing up at Matteo, her eyes were widened in shock. "M-Matteo..." She stuttered, she was speechless.
"It's yours. This place is all yours."
She shook her head in disbelief. "Matteo.. I can't take this."
"You can and you will." He said seriously, "It's yours love. This place is your dream and I want you to have it."
Ivy nodded, feeling her eyes water, she quickly got up and rushed to his side. Straddling him in his chair, she held his face in her hands and looked him in the eyes. "You don't understand how much this means to me. Thank you."
He was gazing up at her with those wonderful brown eyes. "I love you Ivy. You're the love of my life and I don't deserve you. But I want to spend the rest of my life making you happy." He whispered, his voice raw with emotion.
Ivy felt tears streaming down her cheeks but she didn't care at that moment. Leaning down she placed a kiss on his lips. The kiss was short but tender, filled with emotion.
When she pulled back, she let out a small laugh and wiped her tears away. "Well aren't you going to show me around? What is there to do around here?"
Matteo gave her a grin, "Well we can go swimming in the lake. But I do have to warn you, no clothes are allowed." He said in mock seriousness.
Throwing head back, she let out a loud laughs. " Well you won't see me complaining." She joked, giving him a wink.
"Oh really?" Without a warning he grabbed the back of her thighs, standing up, he through her over his shoulders, making her squeal in shock. "Well then lets go." He said marching towards the lake making Ivy giggle.
For the next three days, they spent their time swimming in the lake, riding horses, eating, drinking, talking and laughing. The best part was spending hours making love anywhere they wanted.
Everything was Perfect.
Ivy felt as though everything was too good to be true.
