Matteo sat at the kitchen table staring blankly at his uneaten breakfast, multiple things were running through his mind since he woke up this morning. Last night had been an eye opener, not only did he realize he was in love with Ivy, but after going on a date with another woman who not only was more age-appropriate and not his goddaughter but was someone he can easily be seen out with in public without having to worry about looking like an old man going through a midlife crisis.

Would there ever be a time where he could go out with Ivy, hold her and kiss her in public without having to worry about being judged or caught? Even so, Ivy was only 20 years old, he'd already lived his life, had his fare share of fun and women; but Ivy was probably still figuring out her life, having fun and being young. He'd never thought about getting married, having kids and settling down until Ivy, but he was 40 years old and he wasn't getting any younger. He doubted Ivy was ready for that type of commitment. Sighing, he rubbed his hands across his face in frustration.

Maybe that was why I agreed to go on another date with Vanessa.

"Good morning baby." Chirped Ivy as she came up behind him, wrapping her arms around his waist. "Why haven't you eaten your breakfast?"

Matteo just shrugged his shoulders, "Don't really have an appetite this morning, but I'll get something to eat while I'm at work. Speaking of work.." he said glancing down at his watch, "I have to leave now or I'm going to be late."

Just as he stood up to leave, Ivy took a hold of his hands to stop him. "Hey hold up I actually wanted to ask you something.."

"Well... what is it? I don't have much time." He knew he was coming off as rude, but he needed to get away, needed time and space to think things over.

Ivy noticed his tone and gave him a confused look but she shrugged it off. "Well I was hoping we can go out tonight.. have a romantic date night. What do you think?" She asked, her eyes lighting up with excitement.

Tensing, he quickly stuttered out an excuse "uh.. I can't tonight, I have to work late."

Ivy couldn't hide her disappointment, "Oh, well maybe some other time right? Maybe tomorrow?" She said giving him a hopeful smile.

"Sure.. we'll see. I have to go." He rushed out, picking up his briefcase and walked out of the apartment without looking back.

If he had looked back, he would have seen the look of disappointment and longing on her face.

"Why the hell didn't you warn me you were setting me up on a date last night?" Growled Matteo as soon as he entered Roberts office, "I thought we agreed that it would be on my terms!"

"Woah, woah, woah, relax!" Exclaimed Roberts , putting his hands up in defense, "I'm sorry I thought I was doing you a favor. I knew you wouldn't willingly agree to go on a date so I thought the only way it would happen is if I set you up. It couldn't have been that bad?"

Running his hands through his hair, Matteo tried to calm himself down. He knew Robert didn't have any bad intentions, all he saw it as doing a favor for his single friend. "No, no it went well actually. It's just... I wish you could've at least given me a heads up. I was just surprised that all."

Robert gave him a worried look, "are you sure that's all? I've noticed you've been acting weird lately, but I didn't know if it was a good thing or a bad thing. Now I'm starting to get worried."

"No, no, no, it's nothing. " he said shaking his head, "but I'm just curious, why do you feel the need to set me up with someone?"

Shrugging his shoulder, Robert walked around his desk to stand in front of Matteo. "You're a good man Matteo, you're always there for me and my family and Maria and I just thought you needed a good woman in your life and from what I heard Vanessa seems like a keeper." Clasping a hand on his shoulder and gave it a squeeze, "now come on we have meeting to get to."

Nodding his head in agreement, Matteo followed Robert out, but his mind was in jumbles. What was he going to do?
