choral music and eyes

call me a big ol nerd but listening to choral things (I fell in love with Ola Gjeilo fairly recently) brings me into a really nice and focused calm

like,, sitting down, listening to how all the voices interact with one another rhythmically, harmonically, how the syllables are spaced, how things are phrased, all of that! kind of picking it apart! is really fun to me!

it makes me feel really nice + it's very pretty too,,
anyway, art!

I had the concept one day of "eyes but like with flower petals coming out the sides"

so I whipped out some crayons and drew it + added some lyrics from ola gjeilo's "northern lights"

this was my first kind of test run of the concept!! the words on the side are latin for "my love"

+ then I did this one!! kept the pupil in about the same position but played more with the colours and how the petals work

fun fact this is also unintentionally kind of winter angst,, the alto voice sings this part (I headcanon this vocal range for her) and the words, again in latin, translate to "avert your eyes from me" :")

(on a brighter note, the parts do a cool thing here
the soprano voice holds a syllable that ends in -a to let the alto voice kind of fall a lil from it pitch-wise and pick up!! like seamlessly!!

it kind of sounds like walking down a few steps and continuing to walk forward on the slightly lower level ahah)

here's the piece! all the lyrics are in latin but they are indeed a poetic thingy about the northern lights!

stay positive!! ♡♡
