Your place was busy with your best friend and a few family members running around to get things ready for the baby shower. Actually, it wasn't so much a baby shower, as it was just a fairly small get together with the people you cared about. It seemed like things were mostly ready, so you figured that you could help out with whatever little there was left to be done. However, as soon as you made your way down the stairs, everybody was yelling at you - telling you to sit down and relax because the baby shower was for you and your little one, telling you to just worry about getting ready for the day. As you were being ushered back upstairs, you shot Tom a look, but he only shrugged his shoulders with his eyebrows raised. It wasn't fair that he got to help out because, after all, the party was technically for him too.
As your mom walked you back up the stairs, you tried to argue with her, saying that you were fine, and it really wasn't a big deal if you helped out. She wasn't having it, though, and ended up making sure that you were in your room, getting ready. She closed the door behind her, leaving yourself standing in the middle of the room by yourself with a frown on your face. Being pregnant, it seemed like a lot of people were treating you as if you couldn't do anything for yourself, and it was getting on your nerves. But, since it didn't seem like you had anything else to do, you decided to start getting ready like your mom had suggested.
Just as you pulled on your dress that you'd picked out and started to move to the mirror, the bedroom door cracked open, and Tom stuck his head in. "Hey, love, are you-" Tom stopped mid-sentence, mesmerized by how you looked. "Oh, wow, you look beautiful, Y/N." He finished his sentence as he slipped into the room, closing the door behind him.
The dress you'd chosen was somewhat form-fitting to show off your growing bump. Tom walked up behind you as you stood in front of the mirror, your hands traveling over your stomach to smooth out the fabric of the dress. He stopped behind you, his arms sliding around your body as he leaned forward to rest his chin against your shoulder. Lifting a hand, he brushed your hair to one side, pressing a kiss to the crook of your neck. A shiver ran down your spine, causing you to smile as you looked at Tom through the mirror. Tilting your head back a little, you pressed a kiss to his cheek. "What are ya doin' up here, baby? Thought you were helpin' out," you murmured with a teasing voice, referencing to when you'd come downstairs.
His eyes rolled playfully and his palms slid across your stomach as he pulled back. Walking into the closet, he called over his shoulder with a laugh, "I was told to go away, too!"
The bathroom and closet were connected in Tom's - your shared - bedroom, so you followed behind Tom, stopping in the bathroom so you could do your hair and makeup. Your fingers pulled your hair up off of your neck and twisted it into a bun, pinning your hair in place. Tom came into the bathroom at that point, and you scooted over to make space for him to stand at the counter next to you. Leaning over the counter the best you could, you tried to do your makeup, but you were struggling since you couldn't see as well, so it was taking longer than normal.
By the time you were finally finished, you could hear the familiar sound of the Holland boys on the floor below you. Tom, however, was sitting on the bed, scrolling through his phone while he waited for you. He stood up when he realized you were ready, holding his hand out to you. "Ready?"
You nodded, leaning up a little to kiss his cheek, "You didn't have to wait for me, Tommy, thank you."
He shook his head with a smile, his fingers weaving between yours, "No worries." With a chuckle, he gestured to the bump with his free hand, "Didn't seem right to show up without the guest of honor." The two of you walked downstairs hand in hand and were met with a loud chorus of greetings. Close friends and family members came up to you, congratulating you, but then quickly asking to touch the bump in hopes of feeling your little one move.
