The plan was set into motion. As planned, Alec showed up on the Olympic Coven's doorstep, explaining why he was there after running away from the rabid werewolves that tried to kill the red-eyed monster.

"A mate is everything to a vampire," Alec said. "I cannot live without Beatrice. She may be the only person who makes me feel alive again."

Alec had walls up in his mind. Edward was probing his walls, trying to break them down to read his mind, but Alec wasn't budging or wincing. Beatrice watched Alec curiously, wanting to trust him, but she could sense that something was a little off. She walked forward at a human pace, gently nudging family members to move to the side as she walked to the front, facing Alec.

He smiled slightly at her, but the smile soon disappeared. He put on his straight and stoic expression as usual. Beatrice sighed lightly at that, but she was satisfied that he gave her a small enough smile for a split second that she easily caught.

"I'm going to talk to him alone," Beatrice whispered.

"I don't think - "

Carlisle stopped Edward with a shake of his head.

Beatrice smiled at them over her shoulder. "If I'm not back in two hours, assume I'm dead."

"I wouldn't let anyone hurt you," Alec whispered into her ear.

Beatrice pursed her lips. "I kind of meant you were going to be the one to murder me."

Alec rolled his eyes. "Let us go, my bella colomba."

Beatrice and Alec flashed into the woods, running side by side, trying to see who would reach their destination first. They never talked about where hey would go to talk, but they both somehow knew where to meet up. Their souls were connected.

Beatrice reached the peak of the mountain first. Her smaller body made it easy for her run fast like the wind. She sat on the edge, looking up at the horizon and not down at the trees. Alec soon flashed to her side, looking down at her.

"What does bella colomba mean?" Beatrice questioned.

"Beautiful dove," Alec whispered.

"Why are you here?" Beatrice whispered. "It has to be more than you wanting to spend time with me. You're just not that type of person, Alec Volturi."

"You do not believe me?" he questioned.

"Should I?"

"You should."

It pained him to lie to her, but his loyalties lied with the Volturi. Aro saved Jane and him from death when they were younger. Alec owed him his life.

"What about Jane? Aren't you two inseparable?"

Alec sighed softly, looking to the horizon. "She did not agree with me - about me coming here. She does not like your family. We only had each other for centuries, but then I found my mate. I psychically cannot live without you for long, Beatrice. We were picked for each other. There is no escaping that."

"Are you really going to change your ways for me? You have to drink animal blood in order to stay with us. That's the first step. They don't trust you right now."

The corner of Alec's mouth twitched upward. "I'm well aware. Not many trust the red eyes."

"Well, maybe it's time you try something new," Beatrice whispered, smiling softly. "It won't hurt."

"I think it will hurt my pride more than you think," he retorted.

Beatrice scowled at him. "You said you couldn't live without me."

"Can you?" he retorted.

She stared at him. "I guess not," she muttered. "I guess we'll see where this goes."

"Yes," he answered. "Shall we go back? The Cullens must be worried."

Beatrice nodded. "Yeah, we should - oh - What are you doing?"

Alec picked her up bridal style. "You should be treated like royalty."

"This isn't the old ages," she retorted, chuckling lightly as she gently slapped his shoulder.

However, Alec still didn't put her down. He smiled briefly before flashing back to the Cullen household.
