Chapter 27:
Hailey’s POV:
At the begin tunes of ‘ The Bridal Chorus I walked towards the front of the church, my eyes locked on Eric, my boyfriend.
Just when the song started in full Ng and Bernie began walking down the aisle and I looked over at Shemar and saw him grinning like mad, while keeping his eyes locked on Ng. When she stood next to him, they turned to the priest;
Priest:
“Dear God, today Shemar and Ng ask your blessing so that they each have the space to be themselves, stay themselves and still sound as one melody. Help them to grow to life where everything is shared: grief, trust and uncertainty, faith in life and in ability to own failures. Let them meet each other every day so there remains place for wonders, for a lifetime. Amen”.
Priest:
“Shemar and Ng how often have you not already said to each other ‘I love you’. Often without even thinking about it further, a very common sign of affection, each saying ‘hey, you are important to me’. Today you do this again very explicitly, and with a lot of people here. Today I ask you to think about it very well so that you consciously decide that you are ready to go through life as a married couple. Faithfully promise each other you're not just here but with your whole heart and you mind. Everyone is here, your family and friends; everyone is witnessing your choice to live together for the rest of your lives. Give each other the right hand and say that choice”.
Shemar and Ng turned to look at each other and entwined hands.
Shemar:
“Ng, the first time I saw you I knew you were the one for me, it took some time but eventually I won your heart. You made my life brighter and you blessed me with my first child, our lovely daughter Jazz-elle”.
“I know dating me wasn’t always easy, but you handled it all so well. We had our ups and downs, but it made us stronger”.
“Ng, I will be there for you every day of our lives, I will take care of you and Jazz-elle. I love you both with whole my heart, good or bad days, I will be by your side”.
“With all our friends as our witness and in front of God, I’m ready to become your husband”.
Shemar had tears in his eyes when he said he’s vows and I knew for sure so did Ng.
Ng:
“Shemar, I love you with all my heart, I wonna grow old with you by my side. Since the day I met you, lots has changed, lots of memories have been made together. Some not so good, but most of them memories that will be told over and over again”.
“Dating you was a whole new world that opened; some things we did or happened could be read in the papers the next day. It was something I wasn’t used to, but you stood by me every step of the way”.
“The birth of our daughter gave me the feeling my life is complete, I have the perfect man and our love was blessed with Jazz-elle”.
“Shemar, you make me feel complete, I will be there when you need me, good or bad. I will stand by your side every day for the rest of our life. So standing here, with all our friends as our witness and in front of God I’m ready to become your wife”.
Priest:
“God, we thank you for the love that we clearly feel here, the love between these two people, but also the love of all the people present here.
