{Dr Davis' POV}

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I didn't work this hard just so he could slack off!! It's about time that he took this project seriously. I mean my skills surpass his by far. I spent these years doing all the research and what did I get in return? Deputy!! Damn Deputy my ass!!

Clicking his tongue, Dr Vitale sighed sarcastically, "This is why your below me, you still have much to learn. But I guess you can't learn much more at your old age." He chuckled darkly.

I felt my frustration increase. He always did this! My face turned red as I tried to hide my rage with a forced smile. Though it came out more like a grimace. "Dr, dr, dr, you young people don't know what old is." I chuckled as I spoke through gritted teeth. "At only forty-six, I shouldn't think my death bed is any closer than yours." I continued. It seemed he saw through my facade and smirked. What I would give to smack that smirk of his face!

"Twenty-three is nowhere near your age, Davis. I'm starting to see why you're where you are..." Watching me with an evil glint in his eye. "My second in command." He calmly rose from his seat and went towards the computer on the left to the conference table. Taking out a black pad from the first draw, he turned it on and swiped up. The contents projected from the pad through a coloured hologram.

"You see this?" On the hologram there was a picture of a blue Phoenix with its wings fully spread. Under each wing, a Japanese character from the Kanji alphabet was written in bold. Its tail stretched low and its wings spread far. The eyes were black and staring at no-one in particular, but you could tell they held a story of sorrow and pain. It was surrounded with both blue and gold flakes of fire. The three bottom feathers of its tail were black as well as the feathers at the tips of its wings. The Japanese characters were purple-ish black and not easy to miss. It was a symbol.

"This is their symbol. What they create when they're put together. The Phoenix for immense power, and the Kanji meaning-"

"Destruction." I finished for him boldly.

"Yes, destruction. You see ladies and gentlemen, what is significant about this symbol? As I'm sure you have all noticed the bird is the one and only, legendary Phoenix. Associated with the Sun, a phoenix obtains new life by arising from its predecessor. According to some sources, the Phoenix dies in a show of flames and combustion, although there are other sources that claim that the legendary bird dies and simply decomposes before being born again." Getting rid of the image, he brings up some history sources recorded through centuries, dating back to ancient Greece and even Egypt.

"Through the years, many have speculated the existence of the Phoenix and normally mistake it for the ancient bird, Bennu who was known to sit on the shoulder of the Egyptian God, Ra. The Sun God, who was also believed to be reborn every morning."

Michelle raised her hand shakily, the pain put on her scalp evident. "Sir, if I may..." she swallowed, "...what does the Phoenix have to do with him? A-and what is this rebirth you've spoken of?"

Vitale clicked his tongue as he put down the tablet. He walked towards Michelle and sat down on the table facing her, legs crossed on the ground. He lent forward as he lifted her chin, so their eyes would meet. "Michelle love, the Phoenix has everything to do with him but that is not the main problem right now. The part of the symbol that applies to him is, 破壊 ('Hakai') (Destruction)." He released her chin roughly. "Does this thing have a name?" I challenged.

"This info is hard to find as its name has never been known, but for the past hundred years, us humans named it Karamat. The name Karamat was given due to the stories of its strength. They had seen his strength and lived to tell the tale."
