We were all making our way up the stairs, me slightly behind the others. I stopped abruptly, something had wafted in the air. It wasn't sweet or anything, but it was just intoxicating and I couldn't figure out the specific scent. I closed my eyes to have more concentration and tried to figure out what it was.

"Kiren. Come on, what's the hold up?" I hadn't noticed that Liam had already left and Gray was waiting for me. I opened my eyes, straight away connecting with his silver gaze.

"Can you smell that?" I question, slowly making my way up the stairs, with my head down.

"Smell what? You think your breath smells? If you want I'll let you breathalyze me and tell you the result." He stood a step in front of me with his nose close to my mouth, waiting. His face was completely passive. I shoved his head away, glaring at him. He looked back with a glare of his own, clearly offended by my actions. I chuckled, rolling my eyes.

"No, you idiot. Can you not smell that scent? That thing wafting through the air?" I questioned once more.

"Should I be smelling something?" He raised an eyebrow at me, mumbling for me to hurry up and with that, he turned around and continued up the stairs into one of the rooms. I looked vaguely around the open space trying to pick up another waft before sighing defeatedly and following after my best friend.

I made it to my room just after Gray. I could see that Liam had already entered, but Gray was just standing there. I peeked into the room and what I saw stilled me. My eyes widened slightly as I took the sight of the room.

The room was in absolute disarray. There were clear scratch marks on the carpet, that ripped through the seams. Some of my things lay broken, spread all over the room. Even my blinds had been through the 'small' fight. Dr. Price was hunched over in the singular couch close to the bed at the side of the window. He held his side tightly, while blood seemed to continuously spill from the gaps between his hands; Elsy at his side trying to tend to his wounds. I looked over to the cause of all this mess, nestled deeply in the duvet of my bed.

The girl was chained and unconscious. Her raven hair spread haphazardly around her head; the colour contrasting the white of the sheets. Her unruly curls coiled around my pillows in an almost vice like grip given them the look of being alive. She looked so small against the span of my bed. Her chest rose and fell peacefully, the soft puffs of air making its way to my ears. She looked so innocent. So harmless.

"Get him to the infirmary," I spoke aloud. Although my eyes were trained on the black-haired beauty laying oblivious on my bed, Elsy nodded at my words, forcing Dr. Price out of the seat.

I walked closer to the unconscious woman and sat at the edge of the bed. That smell once again hit my nose, drawing me physically closer to her. Causing me to slightly hover over her body. My actions didn't go unnoticed by Liam. The purple glint in his eyes forced me to avert my gaze from her and look at him. A deep scowl made its way to my face.

"What?" My voice came out in a low growl. Liam stared at me, unblinking. He wasn't scared of me and he never will be. He made that very clear from the slight smirk on his face.

"Be careful." Was all he said before turning and leaving the room. His words held no compassion and his smooth voice would've scared you - that is if you didn't know him. However to me, his words weren't empty. I was silent for a few seconds and I was about to look at the woman again when-

"So.." Gray broke the silence. I sighed as I turned to face him.

"It seems that everyone is leaving one by one, does that mean I have to leave as well or..." He scratched his head before gesturing around the room and towards the door with his hands.

I just stared at him. This guy has never been able to read the room. Noticing my stare he decided to speak.

"You know what? Im-imma head out." There was a second of silence before Gray scurried through the door. I chuckled lightly while shaking my head. My friend was...special.

My laughter died down slowly as my eyes focused on the woman laying in front of me. She was honestly so beautiful. Her caramel skin, although pale from lack of nutrition, still glowed in reaction to the sun. Her eyebrows were dark and perfectly shaped, her lashes, like her hair, were long and curly. A teaser for what lay underneath her eyelids. All I wanted for her to do was open her eyes, and see the gorgeous orbs that I knew would captivate me. I wished for it. My eyes trailed lower to examine the rest of her face.

She had a small button nose that was accompanied by a dust of light brown freckles that rested on top. Her lips were plump, soft-looking and held a slight pout to them. Her face was softly rounded, however her cheeks were sunken. Clearly from lack of food, this caused me to look at the rest of her. She no longer wore the worn out rag from before, but was wearing one of my t-shirts. The black fabric outlined her small frame. She looked so ill, her legs and arms were unhealthily thin and if you looked close enough you could tell that the breaths she took were labored and short.

Before I could realize what I was doing, my hands already reached to comb through her soft curls. Before I could even touch her hair, something caught my eyes. My earlier wish came true as I glanced down and saw deep green eyes looking right into my contrasting light brown.
