Ace Merril was one certain hood. But you weren't certain he loved you as much as you thought.  When he was with his friends he didn't treat you well, you felt like an object. You were objectified.

One day you were hanging around with the Cobras, Billy was complaining about some Catholic girl he was dating (I feel sorry for her, I really do). You were sitting on the bonnet of Ace's car, while he –and another couple of members of his gang, though if Ace noticed he would've knocked them out- stared longingly at you. You gave him a cautious smile.

"Okay boys, find your own way home," he announced shooing them away from his car.

"What?" Charlie questioned.

"I'm taking y/n somewhere. Alone," he said fiercely.

Oh god, you thought, he only wants one thing. The boys looked pretty annoyed. You were quite far out from Castlerock, they'd either have to walk, hitchhike or try and fit all of them in the other car. You smirked to yourself. You climbed in the passenger seat and Ace sped down the dusty road at, at least thirty miles per hour faster than the limit.

"Where are we going?" You ask.

"It's a surprise," he says.

That's weird. You thought. Ace never did anything like this. You were driving down this same road for about twenty minutes, then you drove all the way through Castlerock, until you reached the mountainside. What the hell? Was your first thought. You saw some flickering lights in the distance and suddenly your door was swung open by Ace.

"Come on, baby," he says ushering you out of the car.

"I'm not in the mood by the way," you say to him.

"You've got me all wrong," he says "This isn't like that," he says disgusted. This isn't like you. You thought.

You followed him round the corner of the mountain towards the flickering lights. What you saw was shocking. Blankets were laid out over the rocky terrain, there was an icebox with an expensive-looking bottle of champagne and you understood the flickering lights. There were beautiful candles laid out on the rocks giving a romantic illumination.

"Wow," you said.

"Do you like it?" he asked. "It took me all afternoon,"

That would explain the reason he ditched you with the rest of the Cobras.

"It's perfect,"

You sat down opposite Ace on a checkered blanket and he swiftly produced two champagne flutes from a hidden basket and filled them with the bubbles. He handed it to you and you sipped away and spent the rest of the night staring at the stars.
