 Present day

This was stupid. Deku looked around the rundown bar, where his mentor had a man with icy blue hair and a sickly complexion pinned to the ground. After paralyzing the warping barkeep, Stain had the pleasure of stabbing Shigaraki Tomura himself. Deku looked away. He didn't understand why Stain had decided that associating with the League of Villains was a good idea, but he didn't question it. He never questioned Stain. Not out of fear, or admiration, but something Deku couldn't quite describe.

The scrawny man below stain coughed and spluttered, grabbing the katana. At first Deku thought Shigaraki would try and pull it out, but the metal sword crumbled to dust. Interesting. Deku pulled a small notebook out of his pocket and wrote a few notes.

Apparently can turn metal to dust. Is it just metal? How does he activate his quirk? Does it work on people?

Deku closed the small notebook, putting it back in his hoodie pocket. He watched as Stain finally got up, letting the other villain get up.

"Dammit.. and my wounds were almost done healing... you bastard. Kurogiri, warp him and the kid somewhere else."

"I-I can't sir, I can't seem to move."

Shigaraki wasn't paying attention to the smoky looking barkeep, he kept his eyes (if he could even see through the hand on his face...?) on Stain, though he didn't seem to be very cautious. If anything, he was angry. Disgusting, he was one of those villains. The ones who threw tantrums just because life didn't go their way. It made Deku feel bitter. He turned to Stain.

"Can we go? Clearly he's a waste of time." Deku said coldly. Stain glanced back at him.

"Yeah, I think we're done here," Stain gave Shigaraki one last disgusted look before glaring over at Kurogiri, who finally was able to move. "Hey you, make us a warp gate to Hosu. Now."

The man's yellow eyes widened in surprise, but did so without hesitation. Stain walked through without saying a word, but Deku turned back to Shigaraki, who was shaking.

"Just so you know: I don't like your type, but I may consider working alongside you one day if it means accomplishing my goals."

"And why the hell would I wanna work with a shitbag like you?" He snapped back.

Deku frowned. "You don't know anything about me. I may have the exact same ideals as you, and I may not. Just don't be so close minded or you'll never get anywhere in your meaningless life."

Before Shigaraki could retort, Deku walked through the purple fog, appearing on top of a building in Hosu next to Stain. Almost immediately, his cold demeanor melted and he sighed, sitting down next to where Stain crouched.

"What'd you say to that son of a bitch?"

"Oh, nothing. Just letting him know not to mess with you again, that's all." Deku smiled at Stain, who gave him a small grin in return and ruffled his hair.

"Damn right. You're doing good kid. Soon you'll become a true hero, just like what you wanted."

Deku laughed a little and looked back down at Hosu, his smile fading. "I don't really know if that's what I want anymore."

"Huh?"

Deku sighed, "If being a hero means becoming one of those self absorbed idiots, then it doesn't sound all that great."

"Nah, you'll be a true hero, like All Might."

Deku nodded, feeling a lump form in his throat. Ever since All Might had so brutally crushed his dreams, Deku wasn't sure what he wanted. Maybe see Kacchan again— no, he wouldn't know what to say around him. His mother? Why bother? It's not like she ever believed in him either. Deku hugged his knees to his chest. Stain was the only person he had left in this fucked up world.
