(Smol A/n: this chapter takes place a few weeks after the kiddos move into the dorms)

"Dammit!" Bakugou cursed, stubbing his toe on his bed as he got up. Damn UA beds. Can't even get up in the morning without assaulting your own foot.

Muttering curses, Bakugou limped towards his bathroom. He looked in the mirror to see a tall, angry looking teen staring back at him. He sighed and started washing his face.

In the last few years, he had definitely calmed down a lot... for better or for worse he couldn't tell. After attending the most prestigious school in Japan, placing first in the sports festival, and interning at the number five hero's company, Bakugou got a lot of hate. Online, at school, or even when he was just going out to buy food.

His anger slowly vanished, and that anger was replaced with depression. It made him confused, more angry, but also more unsure of himself. He yelled and slammed his fists on the vanity, small explosions emitting from his fists. No one loved him. He was all alone in this cruel, selfish world.

But wasn't he the best? He always placed first in everything he did... so why wasn't he happy? So fucking weak. Were people lying to him all those years? Was he really just a terrible asshole that deserved nothing better than a slow painful death? Did he deserve to be a hero?

Bakugou shook his head, pushing the thoughts out of his mind before the tears could come. He was not going to cry. He was not going to show weakness to anyone.

After showering and getting dressed, he went downstairs to the boys' common room, where he saw the news playing on the TV and the boys gathered around it, talking, laughing, and eating. He glared at everyone before sitting next to Kirishima, who greeted him happily.

Is he just pretending to be my friend?

"Hey bro! Want some eggs and bacon? Sero made them, he's a surprisingly good cook!"

"I'm not hungry," Bakugou grunted, turning his attention to the news, ignoring Kirishima's protests. A news reporter was on TV, talking about something unimportant before ubruptly switching to more pressing matters.

"And moving on from the love life of Kamui Woods do we have some more exciting news! Last night at around eight thirty, 'Hero killer' Stain was successfully taken into custody by police after being knock unconscious by the number two Hero Endeavor! Yes you heard me folks, the most fearsome villain in Japan is now gone!"

Kirishima stopped to stare at the TV. "Hey guys, check this out! They finally got Stain!"

The boys of 1-A looked over at the TV to see pictures of Endeavor dragging a tied up Stain behind him. Some gasped in awe, others muttering a "finally!"

The reporter continued, "Reports say that Stain has not, in fact, been working alone. After Stain was almost knocked unconscious by Endeavor, a teenager leapt out and stabbed our great hero five times in one arm. The kid appeared to be quirkless and went by the name 'Deku.'

"Investigation shows that this kid is the one who went missing years ago: 'Izuku Midoriya,' also called the nickname 'Deku,' in his childhood years. Unfortunately, Deku escaped, and his whereabouts and intentions are currently unknown. Reports also say that he seemed mentally unstable during the attack, going from overly cheerful to downright sobbing. We still do not know if he was working with Stain, or possibly brainwashed by him... a victim of the attack, Tenya Iida, got footage of the attack."

The screen started playing a video of Stain knocked to the ground, Endeavor towering over him, when a short teen with green hair ran out from behind a pile of garbage, livid.

"LEAVE HIM ALONE YOU D*** FOOL!" he cried, picking up the trash can on his way and throwing it at Endeavor, who glared at him. The camera turned to the kid, shaking slightly.

"You're the missing kid! Izuku Midoriya!" Iida gasped. The kid ignored him, taking one of the knives from Stain's sheathes and leapt towards Endeavor, stabbing him in the shoulder. He sobbed, stabbing Endeavor again and again. The actual wounds themselves were blurred, but you still got the image.

"S-Stay away from him! STAY AWAY!" He yelled, shaking from head to toe. He dropped the knife, to which Stain crawled over and picked up, licking it. Endeavor froze, eyes widening in terror. Stain grinned. The phone was dropped, and the clip ended there.

Bakugou tuned the rest out. It really was him. After being believed dead, he was working with a villain all along. Bakugou stood up suddenly, getting concerned looks from the other boys.

"I'm going out," he said gruffly, grabbing his shoes from their cubby and putting them on.

"Wait, Bakugou!" Kirishima exclaimed, but it was no use. The boy was already out the door, running through the cold, rainy campus of UA.

Dammit. He thought he was safe.

He thought that no one would ever find out what he did to his poor friend.

Mentally unstable? That was all his fault. His damn fault.

He was so weak, so useless. How could he call himself a hero when he couldn't even be one to his closest friend?

A few years ago, he would've called thoughts like these bullshit. The damn nerd deserved what he got. But as maturity and depression started looming over him, he started to see that he was the one in the wrong. Poor Deku.

He ran off campus, ran away from everything. Just like he always did. First it started when Deku got smarter, smarter than Bakugou. It scared him, so he attacked him relentlessly when Deku followed him, then ran. Then it came to UA, where he met tons of people better than him, so he attacked them and distanced himself too. Shit, he couldn't do anything without hurting someone, could he?

He ran up the staircase to Inko's apartment, knocking on the door. She was the only one he could talk to, she was the only one going through the same kind of pain. She opened the door, looking upset, her expression changing to surprise when she saw Bakugou.

"K-Katsuki...? Oh gosh, you saw the news too, didn't you? M-My poor baby Izuku... oh p-please, where are my manners? Come in..."

She sniffles as she stepped aside to let Bakugou in, but he didn't feel right being there. He faced her. He couldn't hide this from her anymore.

"M-Ms. Midoriya... I need to tell you something that I should've told you a long time ago...."

So if any of y'all are wondering, this book is supposed to take place around Bakugou's third year at UA. I know he's really out of character, but I feel like Bakugou would crumble from the hate he would get, mainly because he'd never been hated before (let's face it, he'd be that spoiled brat that cries when someone tells him he's wrong) but I also think he'd mature more in a sense that he figures out that he's not always right, and that he did some stupid things as a kid. This is gonna play more into the story later, but this is just kinda a background on his life story.
