Chapter Six: Back to camp

Bumblestripe and Willowshine pad back to camp together, pelts brushing. Bumblestripe then murmurs "Should I fake cry as if my mate died?" Willowshine nodded and replied "Yes, cry as if i was killed by dogs, a monster or...or... Tigerstar..." Bumblestripe shuddered and started to cry. They padded into camp and Firestar ran over, pelt bristling. He looked at me and growled "Who's kits are these?" I replied shakily "Mine, Firestar. I had them with a loner. She lived near the gathering island. She died while they were being delivered. Her name was Shine." Firestar nodded and said "Why didn't you tell me? I would have invited her into the clan." I looked at him and said "I asked her but she said no." He nodded and said "What are they named?" I replied "Tigerkit,Blackkit, Stripekit, and Shinekit." He nodded and said "Why is Willowshine here?" She replied, setting down the kits "I heard Shine's yowls, she delivered on the gathering island. I swam over and helped." Firestar nodded and said "Very well, ask Ivypool to nurse them." I replied "I asked as soon as I found out Shine beared my kits." He nodded and we carried them to Ivypool and her kits, Frostkit and Streamkit. She took the and said "What are they named?" I pointed to each one and recited the names "Tigerkit, Blackkit, Stripekit, and Shinekit." I quickly added in a whisper "I told the clan their mother was named Shine." She nodded and nursed them. I padded out and Firestar told me to escort Willowshine to the border. I took her there and when we reached it i mumbled "Don't forget, i will see you tonight at the gathering.." She nodded and bounded back to her camp.
