(Last chapter)
We walked through town, the silent snow still falling down. We stopped by a stand with drinks and snacks. I got me and Aleah some hot cocoa and started walking around town as the sky darkened to black. I watched as people passed, big smiles plastered onto their faces. I then looked to Aleah and saw her sipping her drink, looking in awe at the beautiful snow. I saw a fountain and walked over to it. I stared into the water, only glancing away from my reflection when I saw Aleah's reflection walking up next to mine. She placed her head on my shoulder and gently intertwined her hand with mine. I smiled and leaned my head onto hers. I looked ahead, listening to the sounds of chatter among people.
"Hey Max?" I heard Aleah ask.
"Hmm?" I responded.
"Can I go pet the puppy?" I looked up and saw a beautiful Alaskan Husky on the sidewalk walk about fifty eat in front of us.
"Sure" I said, smiling. She let go of my hand and walked over to the puppy and it's owner as I followed closely behind her. When I got to her, she was bent down petting the husky.
"What's it's name?" I asked.
"His name is Mario" the lady responded. I chuckled at the name choice.
"Can't you tell that my son named him?" She asked, laughing. I nodded, still focused on Aleah. We soon got into a conversation with the older lady and by the time I looked at my phone, it was already 9:08 pm.
"Aleah we have to get going" I said. She looked up with a pouty face.
"Ok" she said, sadly. She stood up and started walking to her house, about five to ten minutes away. I said goodbye to the lady and caught up with Aleah.
"Wait up" I said, laughing. She turned and smiled at me, grabbing my hand as I finally stood beside her. No words were exchanged as we walked. The only thing that could be heard, was the slight breeze rustling the trees every now and then. After a few minutes of silence, she spoke up.
"Thank you" I heard her whisper. I turned to look at her.
"For what?" She sighed.
"Ever since my mom died, my dad started getting drunk and beating me and my little brother. I haven't been able to fall in love since due to fear of being treated the same. I never thought that I would find someone who I love and loves me the same...until..." she paused and I raised a brow.
"Until what?" I asked, now curious. She looked at me and stopped. I stopped as well and waited for an answer.
"Until I met you"
