burning down your empire
glowing brighter than the darkness inside of you."

Clary Saltzman thought living in a strange town with her estranged biological father and half-sister would be all she had to worry about...

"WHERE ARE YOU going?" Charlie questions as Clary walks towards the front door.
She's dressed in high-waisted black jeans, a black Veil Brides shirt, and her signature red leather jacket her mother passed down to her. Dirty, worn-out black combat boots adorn her sock-covered feet.
"Out," she says simply, slamming the door behind her as she makes her way into the woods, the one place in town she actually feels at home in—though that may be just her werewolf side being biased.
Clary gazes around the forest, her eyes lighting up with happiness.
Being here, surrounded by nature, reminds her of Hope. The two of them would always run together—where one goes, the other follows.
At that, she frowns. This has been the longest she's been away from the auburn-haired girl and it's only been three days.
"Ugh!" She whips around, punching a tree so hard her fingers crack under the force. "Stupid tree!" She hisses before sitting down against said tree, her breathing erratic. "Why did you have to send me here, Mom?" She whispers to herself, her eyes welling with tears. "I don't belong here."
Clary lets out a sigh, standing and turning towards the sound of water splashing and boys yelling. She smiles upon realising she's heading towards the same cliff she found on the first day of being here.
She slowly makes her way in the direction of the noise, hiding behind a large tree and tilting her head as she watches a group of boys cliff jump.
They're acting like idiots, but for some reason, she feels connected to them.
As one of the boys turns to look at where she's hiding, Clary stiffens and narrows her eyes, the boy doing the same.
"Paul!" Another boy shouts, making the one looking at her turn away.
Clary lets out an inaudible relieved sigh, watching as the remaining boys jump off the cliff and into the water below.
Stepping out from behind the tree, Clary inches towards the edge, her eyes widening at how massive the waves are.
But the boys who jumped look fine. She hums, nodding as she decides it looks fun enough for her.
She throws the boys in the water one last look before walking away from the cliff and making her way down to the beach.
One of the boys down in the water looks up just in time to Clary's flaming red hair swish around in the wind before she disappears.
He frowns, a nagging feeling to follow her rising within him, but he holds himself back.
The redhead walks along the beach, scuffing her feet in the sand as thoughts race through her head. She tries, for once, to stay positive, but she can't.
Whenever she's happy, she's around family and friends, except now she doesn't have them here to do that. She's alone in a town with strangers.
"Why am I the one always getting shit on?" She mutters to herself. Everything bad that's ever happened to her flashes through her mind, making her frown deepen. "Why did you have to leave me, Klaus?" She sits down in the sand, her fingers digging into the rough grains.
If Klaus was still alive, she would be with him right now, and so would Hope. Clary would be with half of her family, and she'd be happy.
"Clary!" A voice shouts from behind her, Bella running up to her, seemingly out of breath. Clary rolls her eyes at the sight of her half-sister. "Dad said you abruptly left without saying where you were going. You've been gone an hour and he's worried."
The redhead tilts her head. "An hour?" She nods, clicking her tongue once. "I guess time flies when you're depressed," she mutters before standing. "You can run on home now, Bella, and tell Charlie I'm fine. Just at the beach, mourning the loss of my life because I came here. But you know, everything's fine." She pushes past Bella and starts walking along the beach.
"Clary!" Bella shouts, but she keeps on walking, her hands balling into fists.
Clary lets out an inaudible growl, her eyes glowing gold as she listens to Bella run up to her from behind.
She glances back before turning her walk into a run, pushing her way into the woods.
As Clary moves further away from the beach, she seamlessly transforms into her wolf, her paws hitting the ground roughly and her eyes shining brightly.
She can faintly hear Bella still screaming her name, but she's too far away. She snarls, jumping over a fallen tree in her way, and decides to stay out here until she's completely calmed down.
