burning down your empire
glowing brighter than the darkness inside of you."

Clary Saltzman thought living in a strange town with her estranged biological father and half-sister would be all she had to worry about...
DAY 𝐆𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐖𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐆 why does tragedy exist? because you are full of rage. why are you full of rage? because you are full of grief.

CLARY WALKS TOWARDS Bella and the Cullen family, who are waiting in a rather large clearing.
She was invited to play baseball with them, though she's quite confused since it's supposed to storm soon.
Alas, she ignores the impending storm in an attempt to get closer to the Cullens. She wants to make sure they're one hundred percent what Josie says they are—Cold Ones.
"Hey!" Bella calls, walking over to her with a smile. "Are you ready to play?"
She's noticed since Clary's best friends visited, Clary hasn't been as angry as usual. Though, she's a little testy since they went home yesterday.
"In the middle of a storm?" Clary raises an eyebrow. "I'm confused about that part."
"Me too," Bella replies, turning away from her half-sister, curiosity taking over her. "I'm wondering..." She trails off, turning back to the redhead. "How is your mom?"
Clary crosses her arms. "She's good. She remarried, something you already know."
Bella nods. "Yeah. What's his name again?"
"Alaric," Clary answers, unaware of the Cullens eavesdropping on their conversation. "Lizzie and Josie are actually his daughters. Twins."
Clary knows of the Gemini Coven ways—how the twins have to merge at the age of twenty-two. They'll have to battle each other and kill the other, resulting in the strongest living to rule the coven.
She finds it all so stupid and useless considering there's no coven now because of what Kai did—the twins' psychotic uncle.
"Fraternal." Bella nods. "What about their mother?"
"Oh, Caroline?" Clary smiles at the thought of the blonde vampire whom she grew to love as a second mother. "She's travelling right now, looking for more kids to join the school," she lies, but Bella doesn't need to know that Caroline is actually searching for a way to stop the merge. "She hasn't been home for a little while, something that Lizzie takes to heart, so she's acting rather bitchy. Her and Josie's birthday is coming up in two weeks—they'll be turning sixteen."
"Are you going to celebrate with them?" Bella asks, biting her lip.
She could tell the moment she and Charlie walked into her room after her friends arrived that Clary loves her friends more than anything else in the world.
Clary frowns. "If I'm able to make the trip, yes. I don't really want to miss their birthday since there is a good chance Caroline won't be there as her trip is very important."
Since she was a witness to Kai's actions, Alaric and Caroline made Clary promise not to tell the twins about it until they were one hundred percent sure they couldn't stop the merge before their twenty-second birthday.
