At school the next day, I didn't see Punzie. Weird. Though she cut classes, I wasn't sure if anyone could remember a day when Punzie was absent. Huh.
Suddenly, Jack and Hiccup came running up to me. "What is it?" I asked, as a small crowd appeared. I wasn't sure if anyone knew about me being abused, and I wanted to keep it that way. I wasn't one to enjoy pity. Sympathy, maybe. Because sympathy was when you understood a person. Pity was when you felt bad for a person, and you looked down on them. I loathed it.
"Hiccup'sparentssaidtheycouldadoptyousocallthecopwiththeadoptionpapersandtellhim," Jack said. I nodded. I had come to understand people when they talked really fast. Apparently, so did everyone else in the school. "Why is Hiccup adopting you?" Everyone screamed. I looked at an imaginary watch on my wrist. "Oh would you look at the time! I gotta go!" I said, running away.
