Chapter 5

Me and the men walk to the SUVs, John opening backseat door for me, Dante gets into passenger side, John walks over to the drivers door and gets in, he starts the vehicle and drives off towards the event.

"Here, you and Dante has to act married. Nobody here can know that you are under protection" John says in a stern voice. Pretending to be married to Dante? Is this a dream? I can't believe I actually get to experience marriage with him but only for tonight and after that, we're not married anymore.

Dante snaps me out of my thoughts when he said "hold out your hand" I smiled and held out my hand. He slides a diamond ring onto my wedding finger, I looked at it then up at him. He smiled and looked away, I took my hand back and kept looking at the ring until we got to the event, Dante opened the door, held out his hand. I grabbed his hand and got out of the SUV.

We walked into the event, his hand on my lower back. Jesus, does he know what he's doing to me? Every touch, he makes me feel sparks and he makes me safe. A lady walked up to us with a big smile on her face. "Oh, a new member. Welcome, sweetheart" She said in a chirpy voice while pulling me into a hug, she pulls away after a bit.

"It's pleased to meet you" I said with a smile, she slowly nods and looks at all the men then she stops and looks at Dante. "This your woman?" she said in a little bit of a confused voice, Dante nods while grabbing my hand, lightly squeezing it. "I am Paige Bateman, Dante's wife" I said and butterflies exploded in my stomach.

She looked back at me with a big smile on her face, she nodded and walked away. Dante turns his body to me, I also turned to face him. "Great job, Paige" he whispered before turning his head towards John, Dante slowly nods. John and the men walk away.

Dante looks back at me "come with me" he says in a stern voice, is something wrong? Did I do something? Hopefully, he isn't mad at me for saying that cause all we're doing is playing a part so I won't be in any danger. Dante leads me to a long hallway where nobody was around.

"I hope you're okay with doing this, Paige. I wouldn't have done this if it wasn't for your own good" he whispered before stopping, I stopped as well as he turned around to face me. I lightly smile and slowly nodded, I looked into his eyes and my eyes went down to his lips before I knew it his lips was on mine.

We've been kissing for awhile now until a cough interrupted us. Dante quickly backed up and so did I, I look over to see Ryan standing here. "That isn't a surprise to me. Make sure John doesn't find out that you were sucking each other's faces off" Ryan said while chuckling. Dante walks up to Ryan, slightly pushing him and Dante chuckled as well.

"Speaking of John, he needs you both" Ryan said before walking away. Dante turns to face me, he slightly smiles and I walk up next to him, we walk back into the main area where everyone's at. John walks up to us "you guys have to dance together to make it more believable, I put on a special song for you guys. It should play at any moment" he whispers before walking away.

A minute later, the song starts and Dante grabs my hand, leads me to the dancefloor. We start to slowly dance while listening to the beautiful sing, I look into Dante's eyes and notice there was desire and passion in his eyes. It's like we're the only people in the room, we sped up our dance a little bit more. He twirled me around and pulled me up against his chest while we sway to the music.

I notice that Dante is smiling, Jesus Christ. That smile melts me everytime. I smile back and slowly wrap my arms around his neck, his arms around my waist and I put my head on his chest. He's so perfect, I could do this all night but unfortunately the song ended and we walked off the dance floor while holding hands. The same lady from earlier walked up to us with a big smile on her face.

"I can tell from across the room, you're in love with each other. Such a wonderful couple" She said before walking away. After a while the event ended and we all headed to the abandoned building together. "You two pulled off the part great. Great job, Paige and Dante" John said, I smiled at his words.

I look down at my hand and slowly took off the ring, I gave it to John with a smile on my face. "That song was called "time of my life" it was played at my wedding, this is my wife's wedding ring. Seeing you both out there dancing to that song and knowing Paige was wearing my wife's wedding ring was like re-living my wedding all over again. Thank you" John said while looking down at his wife's ring, he eventually looked up at me. I still had a smile on my face, I slowly nodded.

"Go home, gentlemen and lady and get some sleep." John said before walking off. I look over at Dante who was talking to Caleb. I slowly nod, I look down at the ground before looking back up and I started to walk off. I heard footsteps chasing after me, I stopped and turned around to see Liam. I slightly smiled while he held up his keys, I nodded and we both walk out of the building.

"Dante was busy talking to Caleb, I apologize" Liam said while walking to the mustang. We approached the vehicle, I was about to get in until I felt someone grab my hand, I look behind me to see Dante. He looks hurt, why? I just shrugged it off, he looked up at Liam and nodded. Liam gave the keys to Dante. "Have a goodnight, you two. See you guys tomorrow." he said while Dante gives Liam the keys to the black SUV.

Liam walks off, Dante opens the passenger door for me, I get in and he gets into the drivers side. He drives off towards my apartment. "What happened earlier isn't going to happen again. You are just a girl that I protect, Paige" Dante says while driving. I knew it, I knew I was just another girl that he protects and when I'm not in danger anymore, him and the team will forget about me.

I nod as he pulls up into the parking lot, we both got out and he walked me up to my door. I took my key card out, put it in the slot and opened the door. We both walk into my apartment, closing the door behind us. I head over to the kitchen counter putting the key card down, I sat down on the stool to take off my annoying high heels. I look up to see Dante on his phone texting someone, probably his actual girlfriend. I hate him for kissing me and leading me on.
