"So...how do we beat a Shadow Cerberus...?" Jeremy asked Rich.
"Well they are quite easily distracted by things almost like a puppy...just with three heads. So if we distract it, Jake can come from behind and slash it or find sunlight to weaken it to sleep!" Rich said.
"Well that may be true I don't want to harm it exactly...it may be a shadow creature but it still may not know what it's doing is wrong...is there a way we can keep it from hurting others?" Jake asked him. Rich thought for a moment and then thought of it! He pulled out a small pouch from his pocket getting confused looks from Jeremy and Jake. "Uh...what's a tiny pouch going to do?"
"This is no ordinary pouch! This, is pure fairy dust! The rarest kind!" Rich said causing the two to gasp.
"How...how did you get it?! It's impossible to find unless you find a fairy!" Jeremy stated.
"I just happen to have lived in a small kingdom where fairies were often seen! I helped a young new fairy once and he gave me some pure fairy dust for a thanks! We use this, the Cerberus will turn into a puppy in the sunlight and stay that way!" Rich said his eyes lighting up.
"It won't hurt the creature?" Jake asked looking at the shimmering dust.
"Nope! It will turn into a cute little pup so long as it's done in sunlight!" Rich said.
"Very well, let's go find this shadow Cerberus and take him down..." Jake said getting back in his horse and going deeper into the Woods.
Chloe, Dustin, and Madeline were watching the three foolish knights as they got closer to Shilver. They were ready to see carnage.
"I can't wait! This is going to be great!" Madeline said taking a seat. Dustin nodded his head but Chloe looked focused at the knight approaching.
"Lighten the hell up Chloe, what's got you all worried."
"Because that prince reminds me of something I heard when I was still alive...but I can't remember what it was. Regardless, we can't let our guard down, if they manage to defeat our beast we will need a plan B." Chloe said. The two just laughed at her statement. She rolled her eyes as they walked up to the beast.
The three of them heard a low growl as they stopped before entering a shadow part of the woods, where they would be most vulnerable before seeing the creature appear three heads and all. The creature emerged growling and snarling at the three as they backed up back into the light, seeing its glowing eyes staring at them.
"Ok, we see it, now what?!" Jeremy said. Jake looked around before spotting a fallen tree branch.
"It's a dog right? What do dogs love?" Jake smiled. The two shrugged, he ran over and held the giant branch up, catching the dogs attention. "Get behind him you two!" He said distractingly the three headed puppy. The three shadows stared at him in confusion.
"Does he have a screw loose or something? What does he think this will accomplish?" Madeline said. The dog lunged at Jake drooling and smiling biting on the stick, and trying to bite Jake.
"Rich now!" He yelled. Rich and Jeremy nodded and threw the dust at the dog turning the dog into three small little black pit bulls. "Aww look how adorable you three are" Jake said as they started to lick him Jeremy and rich ran over to help him up and to pet the three puppies. The shadows were blown away. They beat him?! This wasn't good. They disappeared into a deeper part of the woods furious.
"How did some...some nobody prince beat our beast?!" Dustin said angry.
"Now what do we do. We far let them get any further or the king will have our heads!" Madeline said. Chloe thought for a moment before smirking.
"I have an idea." She said.
"Oh great we're doomed." Dustin said. Chloe glared at him then smirked.
"For that, I'll use you for my guinea pig." She said smirking. He looked at her confused.
"What the hell does tha-" he said before she blew a black dust onto him. He coughed before realizing that he wasn't a shadow anymore but human! "What the hell did you do to me valentine?!" He yelled. She just laughed.
"I needed to see if this stuff worked before throwing it onto myself." She said sprinkling the dust on her turning her human as well. "And now...the next test." She smirked at him before starting to sing. Soon Dustin was in a hypnotized state making Chloe squeal in excitement. "Oh yay! I still got it." She said. Madeline waved a hand in front of him, him giving no reaction.
"Whoa...I've heard of the The Valentine song, but...I didn't think it was anything like this." She said impressed. Chloe curtsy to her as a thanks. She snapped her fingers releasing him from his trance. He growled at her.
"I hate you."
"Shut up, this is how we are going to stop those three." She said. "Using my siren song, I can hypnotize those three losers and send them right of a cliff, then they are no longer a threat." She smiled. Dustin rolled his eyes.
"Fine whatever but turn me back into myself!" He yelled. She rolled her eyes again and just pushed him into the light turning him back. "What is that stuff anyways."
"Shadow Dust. It turns a shadow into a human." She said.
"How do you have that."
"When I was queen I had many things that could insure my protection from any...unruly subjects. This was just a bonus." She said.
"And yet you still got killed." Dustin smirked. She growled at him.
"It doesn't matter that I was killed at that does matter is the one who did it is dead to! She made a big mistake trying to take me down, and for what, so what if I killed her fiancée or hundreds of others, it was my kingdom, and anyone who didn't fit, had to go." She said.
"You were a tyrant and prissy little queen." Dustin said.
"Who thought genocide was a good idea." Madeline chimed in.
"How dare you two! I was at least something before I died. You were a wench, a nobody who seduced and killed over ten men before you were caught and executed." Chloe said to Madeline.
"And you were a nobleman son who thought he could do something more than be his shiny little toy. But look what happen to you, killed by your own father for daring to love someone else and killing your older brother." She said to Dustin. Dustin got quiet and sighed, as did Madeline.
"That's why we are shadows. We were all people who did the wrong things thinking we could get away with it. And now we are loyal to the shadow king. Now...let's go. We have to plan how to get them close enough so I can lure them with my song." She said to them walking away with them to plan how they were going to kill Jake, Jeremy and Rich, unaware that someone else hiding in the shadows was watching them. The took out their bow and leapt through the trees, they had to stop these shadows, not because they care about those three people, but because they have their own vendetta, against Queen Valentine, and they swore to kill her if it was the last thing they would do.
I know it's not the longest chapter but the main point I need to get across in this chapter is really who the shadows where before and the direction where the next chapter will go, which I promise will be longer. I hope you enjoyed this chapter, and as always,
