Lars
WednesdayMy alarm went off, but I was already awake. Woken up by Poe licking and pawing at my face. I was just sitting on the bed, petting and kissing my pets. The alarm interrupted the music that was playing on Bandcamp. It also startled my cat to the point she bit my hand and ran off. It didn't hurt but it was a funny sight to see.
I turned my alarm to snooze and popped my back. Groaning in satisfaction, I throw the covers over me. Shivering from the abrupt change in temperature. I feel more awake. Grabbing my phone I go to the podcast app and play a new episode from 'My Favorite Murder'. The intro plays and the hosts introduce themselves.
I unplug my laptop and check the weather. It was going to be 34 degrees and then hit the 60s later in the day. I picked out my outfit and put it on the desk so I can fix the bed. I gathered everything together, put on my outfit and started making breakfast. I was actually energized. No sign of being tired or the urge to go back to sleep. The first time in a while.
After I ate breakfast, I brushed my teeth and did my routine. I put on a little more makeup than usual but I felt more pretty. Satisfied with my look I head out, but not before I kiss Poe and Rob. As I made my way down the hallway I double check in my head and my pockets. Passing by the coffee shop, I spare 5 minutes of my commute to work. Which wasn't long, only 10-15 minutes. I pulled out my phone and checked the time. 10:47; unlocking my phone I go to the email app. Checking all my emails, in case I needed to look at something important or to declutter what I don't need.
Turning off my phone and the music that was playing. I see the store on the right. The shop was at the very end of the corner.
It was chic and plain, being all black. Some of the paint is a little chipped off but, that only gave the shop a rustic look. I opened the door and the sound of bells ringing notified my presence. A body popped up from behind the counter. The person's glasses were a little crooked on their face.
"Oh, hello Lars," fixing her glasses, she gave me a little smile.
"Hey, Mia."
I did a little wave and headed towards the break room. I dropped my stuff off in the corner and put on my name tag. I went back into the store and was hit with the smell of old books. I wasn't mad about it, just a little curious about why the music store smells like old books. I went back up to the counter.
"So, what do you need me to do."
"Oh! Your job today is to work the counter."
Nodding, I take my place behind the counter and wait.
Today was slow as any other day. Bob would come in as usual and try to hit on Mia. But, with that mustache and stalker/rapist presence he carries around, he's not getting anywhere with her. So, it's just Bob saying horrible dad jokes and Mia politely laughing to them. 30 minutes after trying, Bob goes on his merry way.
"He has no intention of stopping does he?"
"Yeah, I think so," she says and goes back to restocking the books on the shelves.
The day went by fast and I was waiting for Mia to lock up. Deciding to head down to the coffee shop a few minutes away before we headed home, we quickly did our duties and locked up. The temperature was starting to drop as I saw my breath disappear into the crisp air. I re-adjusted my backpack and shivered a little as a small breeze came through. As soon as we got our coffee, we waved bye to each other and headed home.
I unlocked the door lazily, tired and just yearning for sleep. A click sounds, signaling that the door is unlocked. Locking the door behind me, I hear a little bark and the sound of small footsteps.
I spent the rest of the day going over some recipes for next week and spending time with my pets.
