Ch. 41

Kierra's POV

   I awoke with a stretch and a yawn. Man... that was a weird sleep last night. I felt so restless. I roll over to an empty side of the bed. Where was Damian? I sit up and look at the time. It was a bit later than normal, he must have just gone to get food or something.

   Just then the door opens slowly and Damian enters. He sees me and clears his throat. "Morning"

   Weird? "Um. Morning? Where were you I thought you may have gone to get food or something." He walks over to the bed and ruffles his hair. He still had bed head and he had the same clothes on as the night before. He didn't change before he left?

    "I was actually with Sheryl. She needed to talk."

    "Oh.. well, is she ok?" I didn't care for her but Damian liked her and said she wasn't all that bad.

    "She is now. So.. are you ready to tackle the day?" He grinned and I shook my head.

     "Not in these clothes!" I laughed and he joined in.

    "Come on. Let's get ready. I'm going to make some calls and find Phalisity. I'll have maids pack our things for the capital.

   "Can I pack them? I want to do something too." I feel useless when I see other people doing work I could have easily done.

    "If you wish but I was hoping you would be with me all day. I'm going to have to be careful with how I treat you at the capital. You are still a pet after all. And since I'm the king the expectation on how you are treated is high." He caressed my cheek and I nodded, it couldn't be that much worse than when his dad and grandfather visited.

   "Ok, I'll be with you then." I smile and he goes to his desk. He grabs packets and folders ...and tucks them in a travel case. He ushers me over and flips a leash to me before we head out the door.

    "I know you'll want to say goodbye to your sister and Xavier before we leave as well so I will make sure there is plenty of time left to do so. " he talked as he took me to a section of the castle I never been to before.

   "I appreciate it. Where are we going?" I ask doing my best to keep up. He seems to be in a hurry to get done.

    "To the lab here. It's a bit risky for you but I'm around so no one will bother you. " he nodded as if convincing himself.

    We get to some old double doors and Damian knocks 2 times.  When the door opens it reveals a hospital-like organization. We enter and Damian is greeted by the 3 workers there.

    "Hello, Aminu, Sanji, ...and Ferdinand. Do you 3 think you can find this vampire?" He hands them a file from his case and they all look through it.

  "Phalisity? Why do you need her?" One of them asks.

   "Sanji, I would rather keep that disclosed. Just find her and tell her I need her for urgent business." Damian led me through the tables and counters covered in different vials and liquids.

   "Your highness, is there something you're looking for?" The one I think called Ferdinand asks.

   "No... just looking." He opens cabinets and drawers and different things that look like fridges.

    "Well this is our lab and no offense but you can't just waltz in here and expect us to." He was cut off by a shouting that came from the other side of the wall. All 3 of them froze and Damian turned an icy stare on each individual.

    "And what exactly was that?" He took a step forward and the 3 flinched away.

   "Amigo. Why don't we talk somewhere else? Si?" Aminu bowed and gestured to the exit. I knew it wouldn't work though.

   "Who do you 3 have..." Damian's tone was threatening. It sent chills up my spine.

   No one spoke. After a moment Damian growled and made us all jump. He let go of my leash and soon had Ferdinand against a wall. Choking him.

   "Who do you have!!" He screamed and the other 2 had pure fear in their eyes.

    Of course, the poor man couldn't speak so Aminu quickly answered. "It's her sir! We previously found Phalisity! We were just trying to get revenge for what she did to us!" Damian dropped his prey and turned his sights to Aminu.

    "You... did... what..." This was a side I barely knew of Damian. I honestly didn't know what to do or say.

   Sanji who was previously quiet spoke up. "Your majesty I believe it unwise to start a rage session in here. We do have many breakable objects and toxic poisons. I will take you to Phalisity." He motioned to a glass door off behind some racks.

   "How long have you had her.." he follows the scientist and waves me over as well. I hurry as fast as I could.

   "We found her yesterday when we were exploring the east woods for a rare endangered flower. She was doing some sort of testing on a doe. The creature looked mutilated.

   I cringed as my stomach churned at the thought. Who would do something like that?

   "Details aren't needed. What have you done to her?" He spoke more smoothly now that his temper seemed to be dimming.

   "Nothing major yet, we wanted to draw it out." We enter a room and I almost barf. There was a blonde female who may or may not be a model figure body. It was hard to tell because there were chunks of skin all over the floor around her. Yet her skin on her body was all intact.

   "Well.. it could be worse." He shook his head and addressed the woman. "Hello Phalisity, I see you are in a bunch again."

   "Well if the king hasn't come to Grace me with his presence! I'm so flattered! Damian be a dear and release me please. These creatures need a lesson in torture..." she was smiling sweetly and it honestly would be believable. That is if her voice didn't hold the venom it did.

   "How about I let you go on the premise that you train 2 pets to fight. They are Nathans." He smirked for some reason. Like this woman amused him!

   "Hmmm, Nathanial has pets? And I haven't seen his perfect face in years... ok Damian. I'll train the pets to fight." Her eyes gleamed and I shuddered. I didn't want her near Serina or Xavier!

   "Ok, release her then." He waved a hand and the 3 rushed to undo her bonds. As soon as she was free she grabbed the nearest one and bit into his shoulder. He screamed in agony before she tossed him and tackled the next one. She spits the flesh out and punched Ferdinand in the face. KOed immediately. Then she jumped and faced Aminu. He was backed into a corner and had what looked like a stake in his grasps.

   "Awe, a stake. How cute." She looked back with a wide smile plastered to her face.

   "Phalisity... time is wasting and I'm impatient." Damian turned and tugged my leash. I followed close beside him. This was not going to be fun...
