Luka's POV

I woke up feeling better than I had in a long time. I look up and see Kierra's angelic face. Then across from her, I see Damian. He's awake too and he's watching me.

Sitting up I frown. He had to run this, didn't he? Following suit he sits up and clears his throat. I turn to look at him.

"She seemed happy, that's all that matters." He said. I nod in agreement. Secretly though... I wished she would choose already. I wanted to claim her as mine so badly.

Kierra stirred and stretched in her sleep. She still had on her rag clothes and now that I look at her and how I was laying on her makes my face heats up.

Damian chuckles. "The hothead can blush?" He smirked as I send him a glare.

He stood and went to the bin pulling out some nicer clothes. They still were old, but they didn't have a lot of holes in them.

"Kierra, wake up." He said gently as he walked over. I shake her lightly and kiss her head.

"Beautiful, time to get up," I say and she turns to curl in a ball. I grin evilly as an idea forms. Before Damian can stop me I scoop her up and spin around.

The sudden movement makes her squeal in surprise. Then I toss her on the bed and she lands on it with a bounce, laughing.

"Ok! I'm up! She says rubbing her eyes. Damian hands her the clothes and she runs to change.

"Really." he looks at me when she shuts the door. I shrug.

"She's up." I grin and wink. "Jealous?" I tease and he rolls his eyes. Laughing I go and plop on the couch.

"I have no reason to be." He walked away and fiddled with papers at his desk.

Kierra came out and she looked a lot better. "I'm glad to see you back to yourself Doll." I smile as she gives me a grin.

"Course! I figured out a trick to heal faster!" She practically was jumping up and down. I held in a laugh but still grinned in amusement.

"You're starting to learn quickly." Damian comments.

"Yeah! It's like I get this missing piece and just know what to do. But other times I have to find out where it goes." She walks to the desk and grabs a paper and pencil. Then comes over and sits next to me on the couch.

"It's in your DNA," I tell her. "You instinctively know what you need to do.

She grabs a hard book on the table in front of us and uses it as her mini desk. Then leaning against me she pulls her legs up and starts to sketch.

"Whatcha drawing Doll?" I ask her.

"You'll see. Damian, can I talk to Serena today? I miss her.

"After I get back from morning meetings yes. I will call Nate. Right now, I'm going to get you some food." With that, he left and I was alone with Kierra.

"Who is Serena?" I ask non-chalauntly.

"My sister. She is back home training with this crazy vampire whose on our side. And a werewolf." She made it sound like a normal occurrence.

"Right. Why didn't I think of that." I smile down at her.

She sits up and looks at me. "Hey, Luka?" She seems nervous.

   "Yeah?" I ask.

"Tell me about yourself." Her request threw me off guard for a second. Then I laugh nervously.

"Well, what would you like to know?"

She thought for a moment. "Tell me your favorite color." She smiles.

   "Blue," I say instantly.

"Why?" She shoots right back. I stare at her wondering where this was going.

"Well," I began. "When I was younger, around 5 or so, my mother had shown me a picture of her here. She was in a flowery field and a pretty red dress. A bright smile on her face and everything looked perfect. Behind her was the bright blue sky. In hell, there is no sky. Just fire, lava, and voids of darkness. I remember looking at the picture and imagining I was the one in the field. Smiling and laughing under the vast blue sky above me." I close my eyes and smile.

"That's... beautiful," Kierra whispered. "What happened to the picture?"

I frowned and opened my eyes. "Lucifer found it," I said simply. She didn't reply so I knew she understood.

"Is this a one-sided interrogation, or can I ask questions too," I smirk and lighten the mood.

She giggles and nods. "Ask away." She waits for my question.

"What is your favorite smell," I ask her.

She laughs and almost falls off the couch. "Favorite smell?!" She repeats almost out of breath.

"Yeah." I chuckle watching her pull herself together.

"Ok, ok." She finally calms down enough and thinks. "There was this one time with my mom. I was really little and don't remember it very well, but we were hiding in a building. I think my mom said it was called a bakery."

"I've heard of those. You make bread and stuff there." I nod and continue to listen.

"Well, we found an old recipe and some of the ingredients. We had to improvise a bit, but we got the dough made. When we baked it the smell was mouthwatering." I could see her eyes glaze over at the memory.

She shook herself out of it and looked back at me. "I think that's my favorite smell. Freshly baked bread." She smiled.

"That's cool." I look away. She had such simple joys in life.

Damian walked in with some food and Kierra went back to sketching and eating some Brussel sprouts.
