Will You Be Mine?

Chapter 20

When we got inside the smell of the hospital brought back horrible memories.

"Looking for Emma Harries." Sarah's dad said.

"Yes, right this way." The nurse in pink scrubs said.

5 minutes later we arrived to her room.

"Before you go in I want to talk to you. She's in a coma but you can still talk to her. Talking to people who are in a coma usually helps them pull through. I can't tell you what kind of state she's in because I'm not her nurse. Now, when her nurse comes in you can ask her any questions that you have. Do you have any questions for me?" She asked

We all shook our heads no.

"Alright, then you may go in." Then she left.

When we walked in and saw Emma she looked the same. Except for the fact that she was hooked up to almost everything.

"I think we should give these two time alone with Emma." Sarah's mom said to Emma's parents.

They looked hesitant to leave but they did after they both gave her a kiss and said that they will be back.

Sarah took one seat on one side and I took the other seat on the other side of Emma.

"Hey Em." I said taking her hand.

"We miss you." Sarah said as she took Emma's other hand.

"There's been so much going on." I said

"You tell her you're part first Hilary." Sarah said looking at me.

"Alright. Well Emma, I've been hanging out with Ben from Breaking Benjamin. He's really sweet. You have to meet him. On the other side though his cousin is not so sweet. He's the opposite, sour. I say that because I found out that he was the one that killed Jack and my dad. Hmm...what else. Oh I have been coming out of my shell more. Oh and just so you know I literally beat up Avery for what he has done. I miss you Emma. Please pull through." After saying all that I just broke down.

I wasn't crying as much a couple minutes later. I looked over to Sarah and saw that she too has been crying.

"Well I guess it's my turn. I'll start off by saying that I miss you as much as Hilary does. It's hard going to school without you with us and making us laugh when we don't want to. Um...I've got a boyfriend. His name is Mark. I met him at the concert. Turns out that he lives close to me. You know that guy you like? Levi. Yeah well he tells me that he misses you and that he likes you as well. Hilary and I both knew that he did." Sarah said

Then all went silent.

When I looked at the clock an hour and a half has gone by.

I looked at Sarah and she was about to say something until something started beeping. Not long after, three nurses and a doctor came in.

"What's going on?" Sarah and I asked at the same time.

No one answered right away.

Sarah and I were holding on to each other.

A couple minutes went by, then the doctor turned toward us.

"I'm sorry ladies, but she just passed away."

"No. no no no no!" I yelled as fresh tears came rolling down my face like a waterfall.

"Please come with me." The doctor said

So we followed.

"Have a seat. I'm sorry for your loss. We tried everything for her. We gave her all kinds of medicine and we even did some surgery but her body couldn't pull through. We checked on her every half hour as you could tell. Again, I'm sorry." Then he went back into the room.

"Sarah, Hilary." Sarah's parents said as they came toward us.

Sarah's mom pulled me into a hug.

"Oh sweetie I'm so sorry." She said

Then more tears came.

"Hey someone's here for you." As soon as she said that I heard my name.

I looked up and saw Ben coming toward me.

"Go on." She said

So I left her and went to Ben.

"Hey. I just heard what happened. I'm sorry." Ben said as he just stood there and hugged me as I was crying on him.

When the tears slowed down I started talking.

"How did you think to come here?"

"Well I thought to stop by to see how things were going and to see how you were holding up. I'm glad I did. Let's go sit." Ben said as we made our way to Sarah and her parents.

"Hilary, why does this happen to people who don't deserve it?" Sarah asked

"I wish I knew that answer." I re-plied

Half an hour later we left the hospital.

"Do you want me to come over?" Ben asked

"Yeah. I don't really want to be alone."

"Ok, I'll take you home then."

"Alright. Let me go tell Sarah." I said as I made my over to her.

"Hey Ben is going to take me home."

"Alright."

Then I just pulled her into a hug.

"Talk to you later." Sarah said

I just nodded.

Then I went back to the car and got in and headed home.
